RI, MA, CT rx8 owners, I need a stock intake pipe!
Hi,
I'm new to RX8 ownership and the forum. I recently purchased a used 04 RX8 with a scant 8k miles on it. Unfortunately the previous owners weren't as kind as they should have been to the car. In addition to a beat up ac condenser, the car has a cracked intake connector tube. Although its still under warranty, the cracked tube isn't covered because they tried to repair it with silicone and tape. It is leaking badly and causing some issues.
My dealer (Tasca) wants $288.00 for the part, shipping and installation! That seems crazy! If anyone in the area has discarded their original intake tube in favor of a K&N typhoon, AEM or MS intake and would like to sell the original, please LMK.
Thanks

For a few extra bucks you could buy a brand new aftermarket intake wtf.. thats yeah wow.. I'm sure someone on here will be able to help you out. Myself I'm still stock in the intake section but again someone should spring up to help ya out.

I had considered that option as well. After extensive reading on the forum, it doesn't seem like aftermarket intakes really add up to anything more than a nice noise and extremely modest gains. My prior two cars were FI (Mitsu Evo VIII and Mercedes Benz C230K) and both of those responded with noticeable gains for the $$$ in intake upgrades. I also don't want a hard time on warranty stuff (even though theorethically dealers can't bust your warranty for aftermarket stuff see SEMA) so stock seems like the way to go.
