1. no one is bashing you
2. we are voicing our opinions of how we feel
3. maybe we didnt take a close enough look at what you had, mind posting up yours specs? i could be wrong but i dont believe you even popped your hood? so what mods do you got hiding?
4. yes bangkoks car was dirty and had bird **** on it. but i HIGHLY doubt thats anywhere close for the judges to deduct THAT many points for him to lose..

I use to own an 8, i use to do shows. i use to lose to cars with less modifications, and worse condition then mine. it really kills the spirit of car events. sorry it doesnt sound liek were "supporting" you but when someone puts all that time and effort into modifying their car to the extent bangkok did, its a slap in the face when a car with not as many modifications "Wins" over his. None of us crapped on your car, none of us said it was bad looking, but we all know you dont have nearly as many modifications as bangkoks car since he has pretty much redone EVERYTHING.

ModzZ Of your car I observed:

1. Cross Drilled rotors
2. Half painted calipers
3. Eyelids
4. Dash kit/ with radio
5. painted interior center trim black
6. I think i saw a exhaust

Bangkoks Mod list

1. Too many to list.
2. I think Bangkoks MS front & Spoiler alone is sufficant enough to have taken the trophy. Just my opinion

That why our opinion was that Bangkok should have won. Its nothing personal.
i spoke to you there. You seemed like a pretty cool dude.

Even with my 15,000 grand in modZz i went with expectations to loose to Bangkok because I know he has more modZz than I do.

Ok being the devil's advocate I am I see both sides of the coin here.

While I didn't attend the meet unfortunately I think there is understanding from both sides. However this is my personal thought; the number of modifications should not and do not equal the right to win. If they did, then just submit a list of all the updates you did and the person with the most wins. So Jimmy had 45 mods to Billy's 30, he spent more money so therefore he wins; sounds a little retarded don't you think? I liken it to say a contest for example lets say snowboarding. Whoever does the most spins wins, still retarded concept as they don't judge strictly by that.

It's about style, looks, modifications, difficulty of them, and so forth. If he had a cleaner looking car, kept it in shape and spent money he could on modifications that judges saw as a car enthusiastic that took care of his car well then props to him. I'm sure the other guy while as you mentioned might of blown a lot of money on his car far more than anyone else but again, the number of mods is just another area to be subject to judging a win on.

I'm not taking sides on either as I never do, just stating # of mods alone shouldn't dictate such a judgment. Perhaps the judges were bias, maybe so, maybe not. Just stating the analogy that he with the most mods wins (which is the only thing I'm reading from here) is kinda stupid.

lol. youre right list on mods dont = to win. its about uniquiness, style, craftsmanship etc. if you ever seen bangkoks car you will drool how well the engine bay is kept. the turbo job is HELLA clean. i stripped my whole engine bay and redid everything and mine isnt even HALF compared to his.

how is this not show worthy?

If I was a judge, I wouldn't give the look high scores because I personally don't like the look of the front bumper with the silly wingie things. I equate carbon fiber with rice. Again, thats just me and my way of looking at things and the way I like the looks of the cars. The engine bay does look really good and clean.

This is were the judge's personal opinions come into play. you can complain all you want but in the end a person with different likes and dislikes was given the order to judge something.

I completely understand....
but the other thing is, its almost impossible to make power ina Rx8..... Not to mention its a 2004 car.... i dont really find it rare when some body has a brand new car and keeps its stock/clean....??? now if it were a 1980's car and looked brand new.... then thats more amazing to me.

They should just let the car owners decide next time...
It might be the same results, but at least i'll feel better knowing that its from people who are on the forums and put sweat and money into these cars... the same as i did

i am just saying this, but it was about the best mazda 2000, it's not the cleanest.so, teh judges should know RX8 first before they can judge it, but it seems that tehy just know what rotary is.
i am not saying that i need to win, and one more time, i don't care.
basically, it's for everybody, and it happens to other people too. it's better to have a judge who knows about RX8 and some modifications, it's not some ricy judge who like audio or something else. for example, some judges think that CARBON FIBER HOOD is ricy, but a good judge will know that a TURBO 8 WILL need some cooling system from engine bay while in boost, and carbon fiber has a functionality as a help to cool the engine while boosting by taking out the hot air. it's ricy when it's not functional.
that's why i don't care if those kind of judges decide who the winners are because i don't think they hang out with car enthusiats.
i believe the opinions from my friends around who have been modifying cars, knowing what's good mod and not, that's where it comes down to.
next time, i will see when it comes to show like that because it's just not worth it, but instead, it's better to have a meet than show like that because everybody will know what's good and what's not.
i hope people can fix this in the future toward chosing the good judge. that's all
steven

Seems a few are taking my post as a side chooser. As I originally stated, I wasn't taking sides. I was specifically referring to a general statement that # of mods should not dictate a win/lose in a show, simple as that; nothing directed. Again, I wasn't there, maybe it was bias, maybe not, no clue. It was a post in regards to the majority of responses that seemed to evolve a misconception that whomever has the most mods should win, not true. Nothing more

i did win best under construction remember?.......boy was i hated on.....but i still got the trophy so neener neener.....as for closing this thread i dont think its ugly....just factual...honestly i wasnt there but looking at the pictures you can tell that the judging was biased a bit....its an enthusiast car show.....not a stock show room......yes bangkok might have some showy mods but if your at a show then duh.....they fit.....aside from being actually functional....please some one prove me wrong......not that i havent judged any majoy shows myself.....RotorJam.....cough cough.....
