If any of you decide to put an MP3/CD changer in please let me know. I accidently left a cd in my player when I changed it out so if you were willing to let me slave my cd player for like 30 seconds to get the cd out I would be grateful

Not a problem. I have a 6-cd changer, also in a box, queued for installation (after the strakes). I'll PM you when I get ready to do it.

Technical Response: The current stylistic design trends result in a "thick" look from the side, a failing for most contemporary sports cars (look at the 350Z). While the RX-8 suffers less from this than most, many people believe it can be improved by stylistic elements that lengthen the lines of the car by breaking the large expanse of flat sheet metal on the side. Strakes help to achieve this.

Pin striping can also be used to achieve this but I believe the few attempts at pin striping of an RX-8 have resulted in execution of the car owners by members of the RX8Forum.

Short Response: They look cool .

Hahahah..( answer to short responce)

From a Japanese sports car enthusiest stand point. (responce to the technical answer)

In the Japanese market performance vehicals are not realesed with PIN STRIPES or SIDE STRAKES. In keeping with the styling in those markets strakes should not be considerd appropriet additions to the RX8 styleing.

Considerations will be made for body kits, side skirts and certain perfomance wings.

Tastefull additions should be cross-refrenced with past RX stylings and modifications for enhancements of the RX8 appearance.

And strakes were never in the equation.

P.S..

I feel like we are discussing a breed of dog for AKA qualification.

Seriously, my main interest in strakes is that they look unusual and they are big enough to be noticed (unlike wheel centers or rotary accents). Not something that you regularly see on contemporary cars.

I have not been a fan of traditional style enhancements like airdams, aero kits and wings (although the RX-8 wing does look good). The result is a little muscular for my taste. For some reason the retro look of the strakes appeals to me. Since Chirorx8 and I are the ones interested in strakes, it may even be age related.

Just remember, there is no accounting for taste .

Hahahha! I think I will blame it on the age!

My husband can barely fit in a Miata-how the heck do you cram yourself in? I'll bet you have to have to top down so you can look over the windshield, right?
