RX8 Supercharger = $350.00??

I have never seen this one before but it looks like an oversized turbonator to me... You all be the judge...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=300041271140

Anyone ever seen this thing before? It claims a 25HP (Yeah ******* right ) gain off of using this thing.

They have those things for just about every car... such a joke! I would love to see someone get one just to see if it actually does anything besides look stupid and waste money.

You know just for science sake, If I can find someone to donate dyno time out here in MD I would get one of those damn things and dyno it just for the hell of it. I know a mechanic that would be up for the experiment but I dont know any of them that have dyno's. Hey if any of you here in the club that knows someone in the MD / DC / VA (and south central PA... Adams county etc...) know a place with a dyno willing to donate time for an experiment lemme know. I think it would be fun research for the group.

ya whatever, if you really wanna put that shitty *** build on your car and mess up the components when it breaks apart and gets sucked into your intake then be my guest. but im telling you that there is no way these things flow the cfm that the intake requires therefor, when you get up to 9k rpm and you are flowing full cfm your intake will
1 have to make the turbine in the "supercharger" spin faster
2 that will decrease the amount of air your intake takes in and that will mess up performance.
that is why i say its no good. if your engine turns it faster than its meant to go a shity build to begin with will break and it has no where to go but your intake.

GO FOR IT

BOOM!
ok so the stock na rx8 flows 400 cfm.... guess what kiddies thats right... 250 cfm is less than 400. thus get ready to royally f up your engine. with 150 cfm holding up the engine i predict my earlier post is correct. and with this source to back it up in am covered. it seems epitrochoid, rotorygod swoope and richard paul have no quarrels with it being 400 cfm. so were going to go by that figure.

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...hlight=cfm+rpm

now that we all know better and have correct reasons behind it... lets just not even try this.

Dude get your panties out of a bunch and relax. You just totally fucked up some good laughs trying to come in here and be "the rotary god" of the damn room. If you look closely at the description it seems that its talking about adding 250CFM of air… Notice the comparison it makes to a real turbo. Better yet here is the quote…

"A stock turbo from an Audi 1.8T produces 400CFM. Adding the electric supercharger will produce more then half of the power than a stock Audi 1.8T turbo would. There is need to do any modifications to your engine at all. 250CFM of forced air can also be compared to a 15-25 shot of Nitrous."

If you cant laugh and loosen up a bit like EVERONE ELSE who has replied in here, then go find something better to do than argue on the internet like a ******* retard! Christ sakes people cant even have a good time around here without someone wanting to be that 1 genius who knows everything and wants to prove everyone wrong. Now as far as the experiment, I am willing to give it a shot on the dyno and post the results for the noobs who come through and ask about them... not to mention I am sure that there are a few who have purchased a turbonator or 2 in their lifetime. I have been around here a while so I know whats crap and whats not but you know it never hurts to have a dyno to PROVE to non believing noobs who dont know any better...

k. first off let me say im calm. i wrote that with a perfectly comical attitude. i laugh at the the thought of it actually working. 2
no panties boxers are my choice
3 no one is trying to be RG here. i was mearly explaining in a scientific way how this is impossible.
4 RG rocks i hope he comes to this thread
5. you have 30 more posts than me, and we both joined in july of 2006 so we are equals.so why are we in a "i have more post than you" bickering fight. that is childish and flat out stupid. i think your argument on why i am "bent out of shape" about this is weak to say the least. i have contributed information beyond a normal laugh line i normally provide. beleive me, im the first the say something funny or sarcastic, but now i just thought i would give a good answer to something.
but really i will send you a dollar if you will buy this and dyno it. ill give up 1 coke to contribute to your scientific testing. ill paypal you. maybe we can get a few people to donate a buck.
im new in some respects and a noob by a few but only to those with at least double my posts id say. im not trying to be a smart guy or anything just providing info.
next time you ask a question about why your car is making a noise ill be sure to tell you that you have a squirrel in your intake, cuz god knows i dont want to provide a descent knowledgable answer or anything like that.
haha i love rx8club.com.
this place never is at a loss to misinterpret people. this is why writting sucks. with voice inflection you can come across so much different.
by the way i love your icon honda sucks. keep it going man stomp em.

i just wish i could buy an island or something like that. but its so expensive...

6 whats more, you will not know how much over the stock cfm ths thing can flow unless you buy one. not all engine use the same cfm. especially a rotory with a redline at 9K.

Then I apologize bro but your last comment seems like you wanted to prove yourself right at all costs. You were the only person who came in trying to offer a “scientific explanation” where everyone else was basically saying that the thing is CRAP. Hell I even said that in my first post when I said “it looks like an oversized turbonator”. Now I am not calling YOU a noob just because you have 30 lest posts. Personally I could care less how many posts someone has because you can have 10,000 posts of pure BS but does that make you a rotary genius? NO it doesn’t. There are users in here who have 5 posts or less but are expert mechanics in their own respects. By the way a “I have more posts than you” fight never started… hell the number of posts I have never came up. I simply said I've been around long enough to know what is crap…flip back up and look at that again if you like. You opened that door bro. I don’t come in the group picking fights and crap like that. I come in here to expand my knowledge of the rotary and senior members like RG and the rest of the senior members are real good about providing that information. Besides arguing on the internet is like running at the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded! (yes I did steal that from some place else) . If people are obviously BS'ing in a room man like we have been man, don’t come in acting like Bill Nye the science guy with info that most of us have probably read because people ask about these products all the time. That off the break seems like you are out to prove something. That’s all I’m saying.

ROUND 2! This is way better than the ebay add. This is the info from the vendor's site as linked in the add for more mis-"info". It includes a Dyno.

http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/blowerinfo.asp

I'm not going to argue the conceptual merits of the idea. I think the site speaks for its self.

"How it works: All stock air intakes are designed to intake a certain amount of air. The intake ratio is usually set at only 10% of its full capacity. In other words your stock air intake is designed to only intake 10% of the air that it could intake. This leaves 90% of the air suspended from entering your engine. The reason you get horsepower increase when you get a short ram or cold air intake is because you are no longer restricting the air to come in. The air is being free flowed by your engine itself. If you measure how much capacity is left over after installing a short ram or cold air intake, you will realize that you have about 60%-70% capacity left of potential air to enter your engine. This is where the Air Intake Blower comes to place. It will be help your engine intake more air resulting in making less pressure on the engine itself, horsepower increase and improving gas mileage. "

I think the wiring diagram is the best. Anyone see anything special there?

Landon,
I'm working on it bro! Homeland Security is getting tougher nowadays...I'mma need a security deposit from you though. Paypal me $25 and I got you locked down for the GG!

Hahaha! Have you guys seen the "rifling" widget that goes into the intake as well? Its supposed to spin the air like the rifling in a gun barrel. There's another one for motorcycles. Basically, its a cooling fan (for a PC tower!) with the wires cut off. The arguemnt goes...the air passes the passive blades and creates a VORTEX! Hahaha. I guess this supercharger guy just took it a step further.

Sad thing is, some guys--there is a thread here "What not to do to your car"--will actually keep this "inventor" in business!

There are electric supercharger kits that work. This one, however, seems to be based entirely on bad hype. The unit its self looks like someone may have put some thought into it somewhere. It might even make 2 psi on a dog of a 4 banger.
