Works for me. I just got the tracking number for the package containing my REVi intake :D . It will be here Friday.
Oh, and Gyro is right, money mysteriously flys out of my pocket. Today it found itself in the hands of the parts manager at 128 Mazda. When he found my money in his hand he gave me a 2005 retractable key for it :D

RPIRX-8,
You seriously need help. In my "professional opinion" I think that I should confiscate all of your new purchases until you are rehabilitated. :p

Hi Guys. I'll be there but not in the 8. I'll be driving the MINI Cooper S. Despite that, I would love to say hello and meet you all. If any of you are in Intermediate 2 we can have a little MINI - RX-8 unsanctioned challenge fun.
I'll be at NHIS on 4/17 and 4/18 with the 8. BMWCCA has an Advanced Drivers Skill School on Sunday and a track day on Monday. My MINI is still on the lift undergoing turbokompressor surgery (turbo to feed the supercharger, should be a hoot after this mod!) so I will have the bone stock 8 on the track for the first time.
Look forward to meeting you on the 27th.
-Steve

The last couple of years I've been pacing myself against John in his Cooper S. He had it all prepped for the track and it was surprisingly fast. I had a blast trying to out run him but it wasn't easy. We swapped position more than a few times.
Yeah, you should definitely stop by and say hello to the gang.

Please send in your applications
I just spoke with Ian at SCDA and he said that he has only received applications from Roger, Chee, Moe and myself. If you are interested in attending this track day please send in your application ASAP as the date is only two weeks away and the spots are filling up quickly.

Tech day Sunday 4/24/05
It sounds like the tech day is going to be at Spin9k's house in Portsmouth, NH on Sunday 4/24/05. We should have all of the parts that we need by then and be good to go. I'll be bringing up my tools, jack, and stands. It would be helpful if a few other people could do the same so that we can work on several cars simultaneously.
We will have plenty of food and drink on hand to keep the festivites going well after the work is done. We were also kicking around the idea of setting up GranTourismo 4 on Spin9k's big screen TV and seeing who is the fastest virtual racer. This could be especially entertaining after an adult beverage or two.
If you are interested in attending the tech day please speak up. So that Spin9k can e-mail his address to you.

I'm gonna start a new thread for this tech day. Lets see if we can get the Mods to sticky it. I know there were some people who were not looking at this thread who missed out on the run last weekend.

Bad news for me. I have to cancel. The MINI is still not ready and my wife will have the RX-8 in Western Mass. at a conference Wed-Fri. Due to SCDA's cancellation policies I will forfeit the full $235-. I understand they have to adhere to certain rules and that's ok with me. I just hate to see an empty slot when it's been paid for.
I offered it to some MINI buddies but they can't make it.
If you know of anyone who is interested in taking my track day for free with no strings attached please contact me at steve@minisontop.com
I'll email Ian and get it transferred. I'm going to post this offer on the MINI board too so it'll be first come, first served.
FWIW, I was really impressed with how the 8 handled and performed at NHIS. Surprisingly neutral and sticky. Stock brakes performed amazingly well.
I wouldn't hesitate to track it again.

Hey that's awesome that you would offer that to someone, that's being a really good sport!
I'd gladly take the oppurtunity but my tires are kinda bald!

Kablam! I got rapid fired on that one! I have already recieved an email and telephone call from someone in NH who jumped right on it. It's a MINI driver. Hmmm, looks like the MINI was faster than the 8 in this race! :D
Sorry about that RPIRX-8.

Downshift,
So how are you feeling? Do you think that you'll be able to shake off that cold and meet us at the track?
I'm planning on being there when the gates open at 7am. It gives us extra time to empty the car, tape up the lights, get the car through tech inspection, and in general makes the rest of the day feel more relaxed. It also means that we can grab at least one of the garage bays so that we will have a place to get out of the rain.
I'll also bring my tools, jack, stands, and some brake fluid just in case we need it. Oh don't forget to bring a folding chair so that you can kick back and relax between sessions.
Is anyone going to put a coat of Rainx on their windshield?

Seriously though, I'm just now doing a serious Rain-X concentrate treatment on my windshield, I think that should really improve visibility on the move. I'll bring my bottle so anyone else can apply some too.

Rain-X works awesome on the windshield and side windows. I have been using the stuff for over 10 years now on my Miata's and now my 8. Only one thing to be careful about, the rear window on the 8. Because the defrost lines and radio antenna are on the rear window, I wouldn't apply Rain-X to it. The chemicals in rain-X may possibly dissolve the painted on antenna and defrost lines. I think there was a TSB regarding this about people using ice scrapes on their back windows.
Either way, just something to be cautious about...
have fun at the track and take lots 'o pictures! :D

I think that I still have a bottle of Rain-X kicking around and will definitely apply it tonight. Just not on the rear window.
We may be a little light on pictures this time because Kerrie will not be there to play photographer but we should have some great in car video.

I don't have my camera with me, but if I swing by the track to watch you guys out there, and the weather permits lugging a camera around, I'd be happy to shoot a few with someone elses camera while there out on the track!
Of course if it looks like it's goign to just rain all day... I may not show... not much fun spectating in the rain

The last time I checked the weather it looked like it was going to be raining the whole time that we are going to be out on the track. Yuck!
