So I think I pissed off a cop today...
I was motoring down US295 (Baltimore/Washington Pkwy) at a resonable clip. Most likely 75 in a 55 when I notice up in front of me a bunch of cars slowing down. Being cautious for police I start to slow down but, the traffic is slowing downing down at the top of the hill, and usually that is just traffic on 295. So I'm probably just below 70 at this point when I see the front of the state troopers car. I pass him at 66 in a 55 and watch him pull out a few cars back. So I get pulled over and the only thing he can say is "You we're going a little fast back there, I pulled you over for not having a front license plate."
I swear this is the first time I've ever gotten pulled over and was happy. Since this can't last he tries to get me for not wearing a seatbelt. (I took it off to get my license once I was pulled over, now I know not to move next time.) All in all, $55 and 0 points. What a lovely way to start the day.
Now the real question, do I actually put the license plate on?

It may depend on the state. One person who has gone years without a front tag on various vehicles said he gets a $50 ticket once or twice a year. I think he was in NC. Since points are not assessed, that may affect how/if it shows up in a computer check. Could be listed under a generic 'no point' category which would include other non-moving violations.

...or if you still have the original plate holder, snap it in half and stuff it under your seat along with the front plate. when you get stopped, you can pull them out, explain that the plate holder broke earlier today, and show the good officer the "evidence". hey, it's worked twice now for me!

thanks for the advice, I've yet to put the license plate on and I figure the only way I am is if I end up following the relocation diy (similar to the lancer evo)
The only reason I'm even considering it is for one less reason to be pulled over at 3am on my way home from the bars
