South-Western PA dealership list

Ok people,

I thought it might be a good idea to compile a list of the dealerships in the southwestern PA area (pittsburgh...) that members have had experience with, and to provide some sort of commentary on each so others will know which dealerships are good and which are not so as to avoid having to deal with the "bad apples" (if there are any in the area)... My reasoning behind this is because I'm starting to have some rough idling issues which may potentially be related to the recall, in addition to the fact that I need to take it in and have some of the TSBs addressed anyway. And since the recall letters should be issued soon for all of us, I'd think it would be a good idea to have some sort of collective knowledge base regarding the levels of service of local dealerships...

Anyway, listings should be in the following format:

Dealer name
Location
Nature of experience with dealer (ie - vehicle service and/or purchase)
Description of experience

So to that end, I'll get it poppin...:

Smail Mazda
Greensburg, Pa
Vehicle Purchase (05 WB sport MT6)

Overall, I thought they (salesmen and sales manager) were very friendly people. However, they (salesmen and sales manager) didn't seem to be anything more than marginally knowledgeable concerning the 8, which seems to be typical. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your perspective), I can't speak intelligently concerning their service dept, as I've never taken it in for servicing since I've not had any problems and it's kinda far anyway...

The more, the merrier...!

I live in the south hills but took my car to the Mazda dealer on Rt 19 in Wexford after reading some older posts on here. They were friendly and seemed to be pretty knowledgable about the 8. Even the lot attendant that rode me up to get my rental was pretty familiar with the car. He kinda quized me on the cold start issue, I guess to be sure I wasn't a total nimrod. Once that was out of the way we talked abit about the tricky nature of the 8 in light snow (at least with stock rubber). All in all, a pretty good experience the one time I was there.

Great idea. There should be an entire website like this....it's in the works.
-----------------------------------

ROHRICH MAZDA
2690 WEST LIBERTY AVENUE
PITTSBURGH, PA 15216

I used to have a loaded 2003 Nissan Murano and wanted to lower my payments so I went to this dealer with hopes of test driving and buying a 2004 Mazda3. However, the lackey that worked the showroom floor knew less about the car than me and when I asked him to tell me "one thing about the car that makes it better than it's competitors" he stammered and stuttered and said "I can't think of any." I walked out. Everyone I know that has bought a car or had there car serviced from them was unhappy with the service.
-----------------------------------

DON ALLEN MAZDA
5301 LIBERTY AVENUE
PITTSBURGH, PA 15224

This is my dealer of choice. I take my car to them for service and utilize their free shuttle service to take me into work and pick me up to get the car after work. There are no miscellaneous scratches on the car and the service manager always seems fair and just. Plus they're a MAZDASPEED dealer.
-----------------------------------

MOON TOWNSHIP MAZDA
5760 UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD
MOON TOWNSHIP , PA 15108

This is where I bought my car from. When I went to test drive the RX-8 the salesman kept talking about why the RX-8 was better than the Murano. I didn't care what he had to say because I already had my mind made up. After I bought the car the salesman asked me why would I trade in such a nice vehicle for "just a car" every time I visited. Their service area WAS atrocious. I'm not an abrasive individual, but I have fought with them so many times over nicks, dents and scratches all over my car. I had to have all 4 of my rims refinished because of them. The sales manager told me "I will never work on this car again" because I always point out the VERY OBVIOUS flaws when I pick up my car.

Since then the ENTIRE service staff has been replaced with seemingly competent people. If this dealership wasn't so far out of my way I would consider going back for 2 reasons:
-old staff was fired. New staff seems confident
-very attractive people at Enterprise rent-a-car whom I have become acquainted with.
