C.A.R.T doesn't require an SA rating. neither does F.C.S.C.C. You may want to spring for one with a SNELL rating though if you plan to get into HPDEs and track days. I plan to once my STX build is done.I'm pretty sure Lime Rock requires it.
The tinted visor might not be ideal either but I doubt it will matter. I did the autox with my visor up.
This is the sticker I show them in my helmet its never been a problem.

I've also gone to a few of these over the past few years (must have been the other rx8). John Williamson is the helmet guy, usually sells them for $99. CartCt is a pretty good group, very laid back as far as autox cross (less strict than fcscc). Generally there is a good variety of cars, like godesshunter said, miatas, hondas, minis, wrx's, usually a few Z cars, mustangs and corvette's and couple of older cars too. generally fun times.

Good deal. One thing that I did notice on their site was that there are no spectators, just curious on how well that is enforced as my significant other was hoping to come to watch me in my first autocross event.

Yeah thats there for insurance hooplah I'm sure. I bring my wife with me and a friend. They make them sign is as "crew" and have to sign the waver at the entrance. I think they have that rule in because they dont want your whole group of friends driving up with you and hanging out.

First open race for CART is April 15 in Hartford. Did you end up getting a helmet? They bought a bunch of loaners for this year if not.

Yes i sure did . I will have the RxDuino with me, and I will bring an extra prototype so you get to be the lucky guy who gets to try it out :D. I figure track day would sure as hell kick off the projects usefulness

Yeah $2 to buy a head sock in the morning you keep. Then just grab a helmet right befor your run and return it to the table when your run is over.

Awesome. I cant even find the time to look down at my speedo let alone look at the rxduino but it will be fun to mess with it between runs. Rumor has it its gunna be a huge turn out as its the first of the season so we will probably be in for plenty of down time.

Sounds like you may be in for a new cat. Chances are a test pipe will be cheaper if it needs to be replaced. Don't ignore it though, you can do more damage than you bargain for.

Getting really pumped about this weekend. My first autox so I really hope that I do well. Question about "crew" members. Do they need to pay any fees to be there? I know the drivers have to pay like $35 bucks, but I have my gf and 2 of our friends coming with.

Hi - I'm in New Haven, and know a lot about this car. Be happy to give advice or possibly lend a hand. Most of my tools are in another state, but I have my basic stuff and my brain, that's all you usually need....

Evap codes, if I'm thinking of the right one, are usually just a leaky gas cap, nothing to do with emissions/exhaust.

Feel free to PM me about whatever... I'm in New Haven, VR car with gold wheels, can't miss it...

I was getting a check engine code of p0420 throughout the summer, it would come on and go away on it's own within a day or two. No noticable problems with it driving at all, car idled fine. Take it out the first day out of winter storage and it threw a p0139 I think it was. Slow response to bank one or something close to that, checked on here and it could mean several things just like the p0420 could mean several things. I then realized Mazda offers 70k miles or 8 year warranty on the cat system. You bring it in and they check it, if your cat is bad they replace it ay 0 cost to you, If the cat is fine then it's $105 charge. They check your VIN for exaclty when your car was purchased off the lot originally. For me it ended March 31st 2012 which was the 8 year mark and was car was under 70k. So what I'm saying is, if you think your cat is bad and you have a 2004 model now is the time to have it checked at a dealership because 2012 is the last year for the Mazda warranty for the RX8. Good luck!
