Angry WARNING: Pothole on 46 past Wayne

I was traveling on 46 west past the mall in Wayne. While traveling in the left lane just before Tiffanys comes into view. Kaboom, I was &*@#^%. The steering wheel begins to shake and within two seconds the tire pressure sensor goes off. In true NJ style no one lets me out of the left lane. I finally pull off the road to find my rim bent and cracked clean through right at the valve stem on the rim. I get the quote for the repairs todays and quickly reach for the beer in my fridge. New tire, rim, TPMS, and possible tie rod.

The only good thing about this was the road side assist was there in 20 mins. Plus he gave me a ride home, which was a decent distance.

I have my 8 since Sept. 03, she was running like a dream. Now she sits in the dealers lot in Wayne awaiting parts. And I sit traped in my Apt. putting into flux a date I have for tuesday with a beautiful med student because I don't have my car!

I fell a little better now, but still not well.

Thanks for the allowance of the rant.

-Andy

It will most likely wind up around $800. It really wasn't the depth as it was the speed and the location of contact which killed me. I was driving the 8 like an 8 should be driven. Hopefully my car insurance will kick in a few funds.

Terrible. $800 is very high, if you have tiem check ebay and you might be able to buy a few rims for cheap (stock). Some guy is selling all 4 for $800.

Didn't know you could do that? Shouldn't the township reimburse you? Why the P.D.? Plus how much of a hassle is it going to be to get reimbursement from them?

well im not so sure on all cities.
but im always in wayne, friends and family.
one of my friends works for goodyear on rt23 in wayne
and told me the horror stories he has seen due to potholes.
and that people complained to the city.
my other friend was driving his g.f car on rt 287 and hit a pothole that cracked, bent the steal wheel.i think in oakland.
but they all reported it
a police report is needed,i think its then sent to dot
im not sure of the hassle or such but i heard it takes a while
to get reimbursed.
mootz if you want i can ask my friend his cousin is a wayne cop
and see what he says is easier ?

Got my 8 back yesterday. I have to hand it to the service dept. at Wayne Mazda for not taking me to the cleaners. The final damage was only a new rim and tire. Total cost was slighly north of $600. I know people are selling them cheaper, but my needed my car ASAP. The 8 is my only car.

As far as getting the city to pay for the pothole damage, you have to get the dot to admit that they were aware of the pothole you hit. I am looking into it but it may be more effort they i really need at this point. What complicates matters is that the pothole is next to or on the township line so it is a pain in the a## to figure out who is responsible.

Now I can get back to more important things...
