What to do in Martha's Vineyard?

I was planning on taking my girlfriend to Martha's Vineyard for a couple of days. I've never been to Martha's Vineyard before so I have no idea what to do there or where to stay. Anybody care to give me any info about the place? I don't plan to spend over a grand for maybe 3 days and probraly driving there on Sept 3. Thanks

A grand may be cutting it for a 3 day weekend. The hotels alone will cost you several hundred a night, and most have a 2 night minimum. The beaches are nice especially South Beach. Renting scooters and riding around the island is always fun. You also might have to reserve a spot in the ferry if you want to bring your car to the island.

Sorry. I meant a grand not including hotel and ferry ride.

That should be more than enough though. Make sure you don't wander into the nude beach though, unless you wanna see fat, old, naked people.

MV is ok, but unless you are going there to see something specific it's no different than the rest of Cape Cod. Trust me, I lived here for over 25 years. You can have just a good of time if not better by staying in the Hyannis area and you won't spend as much $$$. Look up Cuddles N' Bubbles. I stayed there once. Great location and rooms.

Cuddles and bubbles? Sounds interesting.... But there's really nothing to do in MV? The only reason I'm going is because my girl wanted to go. I heard that there is only a limited amount of places open during September, is that true? Is it even worth it to go to MV at all then? Thanks.

Nothing to do in the Vineyard. Go to Oak Bluffs for one night out and your basically done with the place. You'd have much more fun in Newport and wouldn't have to pay for the ferry ride. Better restaurants, better nightlife, prettier drive.
