Hey Chris,
Try wiping your tires with a degreaser to remove your tire dressing (409, Purple Power, etc), then using wide blue masking tape...
That older guy you mentioned is a local Circuit Judge (WVU Alumni too).
I met him a couple years ago on the side of the road in front of the Bayer Plant with a bad set of coils. Nice guy, but I don't hang out with Judges...
His eyesight must not be the best, he didn't notice that I was driving the same car until I pointed it out.

S1 - (Series 1) = 2004-2008 Models
S2 - (Series 2) = 2009-up

We never mind helping each other out over here on the darkside...

No prob, glad to help.

Some Cat-Delete pipes can glow a scary cherry red due to the much hotter rotary temps although I never heard of one giving up or burning through. I put a cheap one on my FC and it was so hot that it looked like I had a "Street Glow" kit underneath. I went back to the conventional Cat (gutted).

The model differences are debatable...
I had an interest in the S-2 (R3) until I took an extended test drive.
I felt that my S-1 was quicker.
Seat of the pants driving left me wondering if the R3 was actually de-tuned as far as output but the suspension (Bilstein) was much tighter. I was not impressed as far as my personal taste with a few other things like the interior, wheels and the color choices.

The techs said that it was a drop-off.

I only trust RB for rotary headers.
There are more out there, but that's all I ever used.
Just remember that 9 times out of 10, you'll need new stud bolts.
I took a chance and bought a Walker from Autozone- 0 probs as of yet.
You might find one on the forum or ebay. A new OE is astronomically priced.

I have a gutted OE laying around... the O2 sensor may be fried, but you can have it if you want it. (you still might need the front & rear gaskets/bolts)

Not the only WWP, but the fewest sighted, in my book.
I remember a really nice looking young lady driving a WWP (much like yours) up near DuPont a couple years ago...

I think I've seen that BB (Red Banner/Chrome Wheels, LOUD exhaust) before at Wal-Mart.
Hmmmmm... Think I got his number too.
Wonder if it's somebody from Marshall??

I checked with MU car club and they have no idea who it is, but there was a new group member that posted on June 25 that had a BB with black stock wheels, completely otherwise stock. So there is another one running around.
Its fine, I have been super slammed with work anyways, but would still like to get a bunch together sometime in the future. Ill keep you posted on anyone I happen to flag down or meet along the way.

Speaking of the RB headers you had mentioned earlier, do they have proven gains? Not looking for huge numbers, but any mods that would increase responsiveness and revs will always be a plus in my book. I cant wait to get a tune, feels like i have so many flat spots in the range that the MM tune supposedly will take care of. Need to clean that air filter and MAF and see if that helps along with my random idle jump every now and then, only happens once but it is annoying. Also until it has been ran up the range a few times it tends to fall on its face when first taking off, dont know if this is due to me still getting used to the 8 and its minimal torque compared to what i was used to coupled with the AWD on the Audi , or if im in need of an ignition makeover. REALLY want the BHR kit in the future, trying not to spend all my money in one shot though...conservativeness sucks...

Id be interested in your stock gutted cat if you think that would help my heat problems, was thinking of just going with a highflow and resonator combo on the next mid pipe I buy if I ever pick up that single exit exhaust.

The only way you're gonna get huge #'s is FI.

The issue might be your coils/wires... May even be your Intake.
The oil from K&N's gum the TB up really good too.
When was the last time you had your codes read?

It should help a bit, but it may be better to go with a reputable name cat-delete for better performance. My new cat AND exhaust are still hot!

Do you know if the heat shield is still on?

i was going to change coils and wires and plugs, but have never worked on one before and looks rather...tight in there to get it done lol so hopefully i can get some help from somewhere on that soon. codes have no been run since i bought it, does it need special scan tool? also i need to get under the thing again and check if the heat shield is on and what mid pipe is currently on there, but i think my heat issues may be related to my stock water pump. I did some research and the stock fans at high rpms will create air pockets which are bad, creating hot spots in the motor if you arent careful, according to the threads i read. I definitely want to replace that with the mazmart soon but until then I will be happy not beating on the car as hard as that may be on interstate ramps and tight corners haha I seriously love this car. Honestly feels better than any high reving B series honda I had previously owned and the Audi was no competition even in interior in my opinion. I have a buddy hopefully coming in from fort bragg who has an white FC w corksport header, cat delete, intake, and corksport single exhaust on some gunmetal 17s. He is on leave and trying to come in town to see everyone, If he can Ill see if we can all meet up if your cool with that. Honestly, I would really like to purchase the RB header, Corksport Dual resonated mid, and Single exit exhaust to complete my exhaust system and get this old one off here, I know you said the cork was really loud, but I havent seen anyone running it really compared to other single exits such as hks, raceroots, etc...and Im definitely one to be different. And coming from the background I did, i rally like the angle cut drift style canister haha dont flame me as a ricer for that comment.

Do you think it would be beneficial for me to remove my MAF and clean it to see if that helps my random idle problem? any way that i can replace that oiled K&n filter with a dry filter to prevent that? Would seafoaming the engine help to clean all that out? Where do you introduce the seafoam on these engines?

Take down your intake and check the TB first, that way you don't have to spend time with something unnecessary. If it's really gunked out, you can Sea-Foam just like any piston engine (but on a warm engine). It's gonna emit smoke like a SOB, but it's all in the good name of cleanliness.
**That's an odd-sized K&N on your intake - you need to measure the opening & outside dimensions before swapping to a dry one.

Personally, I have never Sea-Foamed my rotaries- just a good spraydown-wipedown-respray of regular TB cleaner, especially behind the Butterfly. K&N's leave a thick residue... be prepared for a shock!

Hehehe... We won't flame you here.
We should get together soon, I can help you garner the courage to do the plugs/wires/coils.
Gimme a heads-up when your buddy gets in, I'll drop by if I'm in town.
BTW: If you like it LOUD, look for a TurboXS Catback & Midpipe!!

I actually love the way that sounds, its deep. Mine is to an extent, have no idea what brand its not branded anywhere. Im guessing its a cheap no name. I still very much like the corksport single sound and so far ive had good experiences with their quality. I think if i can find a good mid pipe to pair it with it wont be deafingly loud. Maybe something dual resonated>? So far im not interested in putting a cat back on the car, so far atleast. Would like to get my fare share of flames in first lol

It's just loud enough...
The TurboXS system does come with a semi-resonated midpipe.
