Zoom Cleaner/Decarb Dealer Results

So figured I'd post this up for you guys as it's some firsthand evidence of the ability of the new Mazda Zoom Engine Cleaner.

Wednesday of this week I brought in a used 04 rx8 with about 85k on the odometer.

Our owner when buying rx8s from auctions makes sure to get everything checked out and make sure it's gonna be reliable down the road for the future owner.

So we noticed a few issues with it right away and eventually it came down to a compressiong test showing an avg of 7.1's (x100kPa) on the front rotor and an avg of 6.2's (x100kPa) on the rear rotor.

At the dealer, this basically calls for a new motor. Motor was ordered etc etc.

Thursday I brought it in to swap the motors. Figured I'd give something a shot before doing that just to see for myself some evidence of the Decarb's ability.

Did a full decarb on the motor, let it sit exactly an hour etc etc.

After letting it sit took it on a decent test drive to check out and make sure all the other problems were fixed (had some knock noises etc) and to make sure the engine cleaned out nicely and properly.

Then went ahead and did a compression test on the motor with as close a spossible conditions as the previous test was taken.

Discovered the front rotor was now at an average of 7.8(x100kPa) on all faces of the front rotor, and up to an avg of 7.2(x100kPA) on the rear rotor.

Not sure exactly why one went up so much mroe then the other. but in either case I was pretty happy to see those results. Needless to say the motor was still replaced, but now ive got a sound renesis core for myself.

Hope everyone else is seeing similar results.

kevin.

Is this something you put into the spark plug holes and let sit? Is it something that I can pick up at the dealer and do myself? How much is it to have the dealer do it?

I'm just curious as to what specific type of "compression test" I should ask a dealer to do? I keep on hearing there are two types the normal kind and the one used for the recall. Be it true or not I dunno hence me asking, but I'd like one done before I hit 60k. Thanks Kev

Oh and if I get it done and its ok.. I'm sooo getting a decarb done, about how much should a dealer charge for this? Figured I'd weight self vs. dealer yanno.

I've read people getting charged $89.95 for the decarb from the dealer. You can buy the cleaner itself for about 20 bux online.

only way to adjust your caster any further we be by adding camber/caster plates at the top of your struts. Iirc ur caster adjusters are maxed out, generally we get it as close as we can and set the pass. Side slightly diff from drivers side so it will stay straight.
