Question 04' RX-8 Oil Situation

So, ive heard that evidently the 2004 Rx-8's do not inject enough oil into the sidewalls of the housing, causing premature wear. Can I take the car to a dealership and they re-flash it so it puts in more oil just like the other years? Is this a service bulletin/recall and do you pay for it?

Yes you should ask for the latest firmware, it has other good stuff in it. You may already have it though, if the car has seen the dealer any time since 2008 and the dealer did his job.

Ask for the MSP16 TSB, claim you have power loss. You may have to pay for it though.

You could also look into premixing if that's your concern.

Ok thanks! What other stuff is done in the firmware? Also, I'll be having the engine in this car rebuilt. Is there anything really hard or to watch out for as I'm taking it out?
