04' Rx-8 Still not firing
Earlier this week i posted about my toy car dying on me while i was driving.... I have since replaced the coil packs, spark plugs, and tried numerous times to unflood it. However I am begining to think its not flooded at all. I unplugged the fuel pump to see if it was pumping fuel and it is. And i am now left clueless as to what it could it be. This is my dream car and the simple fact im going on my first week owning her and she's not running is raining on my parade. If you have any advice or if this has happened to you id greatly appreciate your advice on how to get her running again. Thanks a bunch!

I feel for you brother! I wish I had some advise that could be helpful. Are you sure your getting spark from your new coils, and plugs? Is there any reason you didn't go for new wires? I believe the suggestion is to get heavy gauge "racing" wire for the added current handling.
I don't know if this helps but I think I solved misfires (Which must have been minor because I never felt any hesitation or bogging down and the car drives like a bat out of hell fast. I took all the coils out of the car and sprayed electronic contact cleaner in both the wire connector and the coils connector. I was really just trying to see if I could find a "bad" coil by putting them back in and swapping them around. Thus seeing rotor 1 misfires change to rotor 2. Anyhow it may have just been not having pushed down hard enough on the Spark plug end of the wires or who knows? All I know is I idled for 10 minutes and NOTHING flashed the damned Check Engine Light CEL. Thank God! It was driving me nuts.
The one thing about this car that I truly loath is the instruments on the dash. If I understand it there is no oil pressure meter. That meter is only an oil pressure switch that moves the meter to the middle. There is no oil temp sensor at all! And maybe the worst is the water temp gauge is (at best) a piece of junk. From what I understand the meter moving off middle is doom and gloom time and having it anywhere near the end is past the nuclear meltdown state. On my 04 the meter is to the right of center warmed up. Yet checking the ECU with an ODBII program says my water temp is 183F?
The rest of the car I love but this cluster of fako meters with all its idiot lights in weird symbols? "F" that. I wish having an ODBII program running full time on an IPad or whatever would solve it but it looks like I'm going to invest in one of those combo oil temp/pressure sensors at least to give me some peace of mind.
*Oh and I did get a new overflow bottle so I have at least a low coolant switch that lights up the icon for the Monopoly house. Who came up with these symbols?
