TN 05 new clutch, but no real power

So i just had the clutch replaced, and slave cylinder on my 05 rx8. The system was bled and car starts fine, ***** into gear, but it doesn't really have the power that it did before the clutch was replaced. The clutch feels really soft, but comes up and down normally, just not the kind of pressure it used to have. shifting into 4, 5, 6 gear feels like nothing is happening. Mechanic said that the tranny may need to be rebuilt. Any thoughts?

Errrr. Walk away slowly from that mechanic.
When you say it doesn't have the power, do the rpms go up without a corresponding rise in speed? What happens when you go full throttle?

Of course i want to just drive away, but car doesn't move lol. Yes so yesterday i went to see what the status was, and pedal was really soft, but it went in and out of gear and it could move. I just left the shop again and now the car doesn't move. If i put it in first gear, i have to pretty much go full throttle to get it to move. Clutch doesn't even feel the same as yesterday, so i am thinking it is still a bleeding issue.

Ok, but the critical question is whether the rpms are going up without the car moving or are the rpm's also not increasing when you press the pedal?

Sounds like the clutch isn't engaging properly and slipping. If the pedal is coming back to the same position, I doubt it needs to be bled more. Seems like the clutch wasn't properly installed. Either that or the gears are worn but your symptoms don't lead me to believe this is the cause. Either way, it will require the trans to be dropped again to confirm the issue. Is the replacement clutch an Exedy?

Sounds like the clutch plate isn't making contact with the flywheel and is slipping. This could be an issue either with the clutch kit you purchased or the clutch kit was improperly installed. It's well known on this car to buy only Exedy replacement clutch kits. That being said, I would take it back and expect the shop to take the transmission out and properly diagnose the issue.

How did they even give you back the car in this condition? Backing out of the shop at full throttle should have been a clue. Definitely bring it back and if they refuse they can pay for someone else to properly confirm the diagnosis.

Not to mention all that slipping isn't good for the clutch or flywheel.

i could almost guarantee they put the clutch disc in backward, didnt wanna admit it, charged you for a new tranny, then only reinstalled the clutch properly .. hopefully not . get the receipts for the trans, labor, parts and get another mechanic to confirm them or atleast find out if its actually a new trans because all your gears dont just "become soft" or blow out from a clutch job...
