05 rx8 new member lowering question

Sorry new to this don't know where to post this but my son recently got an 05 rx8 and wants to lower it. My question is what's a good option for his car. I've seen other cars with just springs and some with coil overs. Just want to know people's opinions on what's the best route to go. This is his dream car and plans on keeping it for a long time. Want him to do it the right way thanks

There are a lot of factors to consider. What are the goals of this car?

Assuming he still has the stock dampers, they are very likely shot or almost so at this point. That means shocks and springs.

If you want to do it right the first time, buy the Bilstein B14 PSS kit for $1,000 shipped. It will give you very high quality shocks that will last a very long time and ride height adjustability, which solves the hit or miss nature of using lowering springs. The ride quality will still be very good, albeit it sportier, as the springs are not too stiff like some other coilovers.

Cool thx for the feedback I think he's going for a nice look he says he doesn't like the gap between the tire and fender.

Buying coilovers is the best bet, IMHO, because the shocks are matched to the springs for you, and ride height is adjustable. Unfortunately, everything available for the RX-8 under $1,000 is pretty much junk. The Bilsteins I mentioned are the best you can get for less than $2,000 in my experience.

Here is a photo of my car taken 1 month after installing the Bilstein kit. I set the spring perches to the maximum heights indicated in the instructions. The car can go up to 1.5" lower than what you see here.

You can even go for HSD coilovers for under $1500. I've had them for about 2 years on the car.
Car has seen daily driving + track days and never disappointed.
Currently the car is slammed to the ground, there's no space between the my rear 20' rims and the fender.

Also, koni adjustable shocks could be had for less than $1000 all 4 corners
if you can get tokico adjustables they can be had for $ 800 or less, amazing shocks, My 04Gt came stock with Tokicos .

There are lots of options, if you just want it low and no track performance then stick with Megan coilovers or tien basis. both can be had for under $800
