2.0KW Started

Hi I'm very confused that why did the 2.0KW started didn't work with my 8?? I had the 1.4KW and starter fine a little bit slow when warm up like I guess all rx8s when warm up takes 2 seconds to start but i wanted to upgrade the Started to the 2.0KW and when I put it in the car just cranks but doesn't start!? I changed it back to the 1.4K and starts right up. Your help will be very appreciative!

Did your 2kW starter crank noticeably faster than the 1.4? I'm thinking your battery may be in less than spectacular shape and can't provide the current necessary for 2kW output. That's a pretty long guess, I can't imagine what else would cause this.

2.0KW Starter

Yes the 2.0 crank faster than da 1.4 but it just cranks and doesn't turn over. I checked my battery at Autozone and starter and they told me it was good. Should I buy a new battery maybe red optima?

Nah, if the battery checks out then I wouldn't worry about that. I can't think of what this could be except a coincidence. Has your car had trouble starting before? Was there a particular reason for the upgraded starter?

When I bought the car the lady told me it needed a starter spark plugs/wires and coils. The car idle very rough and when it was warm up it took very long to start. Than I changed the coils spark plugs/wires (NGK) and I bought the 1.4KW starter and idles perfect and starts better. But the only reason I try the 2.0 is because they say it starts faster than the 1.4 it takes me like 2 seconds to start the car with the 1.4 is that normal?

That is why I got the 2.0 but it was worse! It didn't even start it crank but no start.

A healthy car starts in under 2 seconds cold or hot, 95% of the time. Occasionally you get a longer crank. If you always have long hot starts, your engine compression could be low. However, a faster starter makes it easier to start warm even with low compression, so something doesn't add up here.

How many times did you try to start it with the 2kW starter? Is the starter used, new or freshly rebuilt? Do you have the starter's model number? It should be printed on it.

2.0KW starter

When the car is cold it starts like if it was a (Brand NEW engine) when is warm up takes 2 maybe maybe sometimes takes like 3 or 4 seconds to start. But it always starts it has never letting me down.

The 2.0KW it was brand new it took me 6 to 10 times of cranking but no start I got scared and I just switched back to the 1.4KW and start right up. So I took the other one to Autozone I didn't look for the starter model number.
