2004 Mazda Rx8 Vin Swap inquiry
Hello Everyone,
I have a question for all of you. I just complete a VIN Swap in my 2004 Mazda RX8 Automatic with traction control with the exeption of the ABS module with Pump because the connectos where diferente. The parts that I swapt into me car came from a 2004 Mazda RX8 Automatic but without traction control. My question is if my original ABS Module can be program to the new VIN swap installed without traction control. My original ABS Module is with Traction Control. Please not smartass answer. Thanks for time and help.

I really don't know what a VIN swap is.
Seems to me that would be illegal if it's literally swapping the VIN.

The concep of VIN SWAP
My understanding of the concept VIN SWAP is getting all the components from a Running Mazda RX8. The parts will be ECU, Immobilizer, keyless module and ABS Pump and Module. This part are married all together by the VIN number of the car. So it is not ilegal if you buy the parts from a Junk Yard. If you place all this part together in another car you avoid going to the dealership to program key or the part to you vin number. Hopefully you will understand now the concept. Thanks for input.

I too thought you were asking about reVIN-ing the entire car. Thanks for clearing that up.
*can* the ABS module be reprogrammed? sure. But I'm not sure if the net result will give you traction control. I don't know enough about how it is governed between the ABS module and the ECU.
Can I ask why you're replacing all these parts? It seems like a lot of work to have the same functionality you had before. Was the car in a crash or something?

I change all this part because the only onces that cat correct problem of the immobilizer comunication is the Dealership or someone that have the same software like the dealership. In my current location was one guy, but I have not be able to communicate with him and his shop is close currently. I went to Mazda and talk with them to reprogram me RX8 computer, but they start telling me after program the computer the car doesn't start it will not be our fault and i will be required to paid 140 an hour for troubleshooting. I know in fact was the immobilizer the problem becuase of symptoms and researcher plus others member of the RX8 club. So long story short I fount this 2004 Mazda Rx8 Automatic in California and spoke to the junkyard and they sold me all the part. This car was a running already. The only difference between the parts that I got and my car was the ABS with traction control in my car. The donor car from the junk didn't have traction control but had ABS. Hopefully you will be able to understand me spanglish. So in sense I resolve the issue and posible save money of rip off from Dealership. The parts cost my about the same it will cost to reprogram the keys and doesn't take to long to change all this part.
