2004 Rx8 Manual swap
Issue im having is a no crank no start
Quick overview: swapped all the old accessory parts and sensors from factory engine onto donor car engine and trans
Swapped everything into car and got everything mounted
Bypassed the automatic park saftey switch, now my key comes out while not needing to be in park.
I have a wire coming from the ignition cylinder in the 12V system directly to a push to start button which is connected to the starter.
Immobilizer light does NOT come on indicating that the ECU is recognizing the key and the immobilizer system is functioning correctly
I can hear the starter relay clicking when i use the push to start button, and when i turn the key over
I was told to do the wiring this way by a certified mazda technician who said it would be better to run it this way rather than spend thousands on having the car reprogrammed with a new ecu
Please request anymore information that could be useful to help figure this out Thanks!
Edit: original config was 4port engine and 4 speed auto, converted to 4 port engine with 5 speed manual trans. They are both the same engine so a ecu replacement was not needed, and i salvaged/kept every wire i could from the factory harness
Also i had a jump pack on the battery, as well as its trickle charging as im at work

Have you confirmed the engine and trans turn freely and aren't seized? Do the lights dim when you try to start? Obvious questions: All fuses ok? Any OBD codes?
I'm not sure what the ECU will do without the trans VSS signal, afaik on autos it comes from the auto trans, whereas manuals get it from wheel speed sensors only.

Thanks for your reply Loki!
yes i have checked the obvious fuses, and made sure everything turned freely after clutch install, so all good there!
i have the harness swapped over for the manual transmission and manual engine.
on another swap thread, people are saying that the tcm from the auto is irrelevant and causes idle issues so im keeping that out of the car for now but i will lose functionality of tcs dsc and cruise control which is fine because this is a fully gutted track car which is about to get caged.
i will look into the vss on the car, would you suggest anythings wrong with the way i wired the car?
when i get home from work im going to try and jump the starter with a screwdriver to test that the starter is functioning properly.
next is to test starter solenoid, and then starter relay
also i will see if the lights are dimming when i go to start when i get home!
