2004 RX8 Oil Filler Pipe Replacement

Hello,

I've been reading the forums for a while now and have learned TONS of stuff about the RX8 I am currently swapping engines on.

Since I'm fairly new to working with engines and cars in general I will occasionally make some really dumb mistakes.

A few months ago I managed to break the bolt on the Lower Oil Fill Pipe (P/N N3H1-10-D10) . Apparently this part can be purchased separately, but it seems that it's permanently attached to the engine block.. So is it pressed in and can it be removed by force?

I attached a diagram showing the pipe (labeled 10-410 in the bottom image). If anyone has experience with removing/replacing this part I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I have never removed one but looks like it is just pressed in. You could also just drill it out and use a bolt/nut.

Thanks. Drilling the bolt out was the initial plan, but I'm a bit nervous since it may damage the pipe further. I guess in that case I'd just order a new one...

Yeah it might be a bitch to get to it as well. I have a junk iron at the house, let me see how hard it is to remove tonight.

It is press fit into the iron....if you tap it it will loosen up and come out

I wouldn't bother though...it would be much easier to remove the stud and replace it

The bolt/stud also looks like it's pressed in. Could I hammer it out or would I need to drill through it like 9krpmrx8 said?

The stud is extremely easy to drill. just remove the UIM and put some rags in the pipe while you drill it. the dificult part is getting the new bolt in there and holding a wrench on top and bottom to rebolt it every time. but it's doable. I've seen me do it.
