2005 (55)
Hi, I'm picking up my 192bhp RX8 this weekend, 2005 (55) model. It's done 60K dead and has FSH, it's in really good condition and the engine started and ran fine when I test drove it. The previous owner has used it sensibly and has topped up oil (though he's not a petrol head he understands the rotary).
I've researched and researched and can't a) find a correct method to start/stop the engine properly (youtube is full of videos that are different) and b) what are the signs if it needs a new engine (without a compression test).
Any help appreciated for this RX8 rookie as I want to keep it at it's best!
Thanks

If you start the car, do not shut it off until the motor is at normal operating temperature. You run the risk of flooding the motor if you start it and stop it before it is warmed up.
Difficulty hot-starting the car is a tell-tale sign of low compression.

Thanks, I'll try a 'hot start' before I hand over the money, if there's problems I'll take it as a bad sign...all being well it'll be ok. Generally I wouldn't do this though, I would have to wait say 15 minutes before it's safe to to a 'cold start'? Is there a method of doing a hot start? Looking forward to getting behind the wheel!
