Issue:
I have a 2005 Mazda RX8 and the left headlight (when looking at front of car) stopped working. I tried to replace the bulb, and it still would not work. After checking the fuse, I realized that it was most likely something with the ballast (to replace the light bulb cost would be 450 and if it was the ballast it would cost 1300 for whole headlight assembly according to pfbaseball). I did not want to pay that much.
from amazon for $42. I removed the bumper, and tore the headlight out. I then removed the old ballast (I had to cut it). Next, I drilled a hole in the black ballast cover and in the gray light bulb cover to install the new kit I bought (see pictures). I then put silicone around the holes I drilled. Doing it this way will allow me easily replace the light if it goes bad. I was then able to mount the brick in front of the tire with the included zip ties. This is where the ballast computer went, connected the wires that were in the ballast computer to the two lose wire in the OPT7 Kit by bending the metal connectors to fit, and the covering them with electrical tape Drilled hole in ballast computer box, later siliconed it. Plugged in the headlight, and drilled a hole in the cover (it had to be pretty big to fit the two wires through) and siliconed it. Ran the vehicle adapter through here Mounted brick Brick mount, and siliconed headlight cover
