I know that the factory 5w-20 full synthetic oil isn’t the best for apex seals and just in general it was used to get better emissions. So I looking into 10w30 oil because from what I’ve found reading ALOT of forums thicker is definitely better. I’m interested in what oil brand u guys use and how often you change it I’m also looking into Idemitsu’s synthetic blend racing premix. Only my 2nd day of having an 8 so help would definitely be appreciated.
read the new owners threads a few times. every question you can think of has been answered on this forum before. as for oil use whatever you want. i always used 10-30 non syn mix of crisco/ky liquid/**** ease but everyone has a different opinion. most of us do use premix btw

You are right that thicker oil is definitely better for this car but its not for the apex seals. The bearings in this car run hot and despite the smooth nature of the engine, it's a very chaotic process. The way the rotor spins causes a lot of inertia and even more heat. Due to the fact the engine only burns on one side of the engine, the other side remains cooler. This means bearings require something a bit heavier than 5w-20.
Keep in mind, there are many who use 5w-20 and do not have engine problems. I am definitely not a fan of full synthetic unless running a SOHN adapter. The main thing with oil, no matter which oil you choose is to always ensure there is oil in the car. For me, good old fashioned conventional 10w-40 Castrol GTX is the only oil I use in all RX-8's. Have never had any engine problems and all 4 are still running and making good compression.

Ok I’m definitely going to try to get some 10w-30 or 10w-40 because I bought this car 3days ago and the sticker on the window says the last oil change was 2018 and that really isn’t good plus the oil smells really bad so Amazon here I come lul.
fairly cheap and easy to get,,,,,walmart online, summit racing....ect carries it
Ok I’ll check that out because right now I’m using a bottle of Idemitsu premix but it’s kinda expensive so I’ll definitely be looking around at options.

I use the Lucas 2 stroke for premix. It works perfectly fine.
