For the same policy my Amica insurance was about ~480/year with an assumed market value of whatever nada pricing they use

Awesome! This would be so cool to do, I'm planning on heading down next Saturday since it'll be hard to find time off during the week. I'll be sure to hit you guys up!

Act in a way that deserves respect and you may receive some. Don't start trying to dump a car you haven't even taken delivery of after you asked advice from the forum. Want respect? Follow through with your purchase and take delivery of the car YOU purchased. And don't be so sensitive on this forum. You think I am giving you a hard time? Stick around a little longer.

Take delivery of your new RX8 and I and others will help you.

Welcome to the forum!! It sounds like you picked an exceptional car! The 40AE is just a wonderful trim level and I think you will be pleased with the car overall. Once you're behind the wheel, there's no doubt you'll be in love with the car! I know I was after my first drive in an RX-8! Would love to see pictures of the car when you pick it up and hear how you feel about the car!

If it's God's will, you'd be driving a Honda Accord.

Not a gas guzzling planet killing rotary devilry created by a **** engineer.

Anyhow, enjoy your 40AE. Great car. This club is a wealth of resource that I still reference & learn from.

40th Anniversary Editions now reach Classic Car status

Note for all 40th Anniversary Edition Owners,

One very low mileage one went for $42,250 USD at a MS Classic Cars auction in 2021: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2008-mazda-rx-8-8/

State Farm Insurance is now the majority owner of Hagerty Classic Car Insurance. My State Farm Agent just ran it by their Hagerty underwriters and my 2008 40th Anniversary Edition RX8 is now insured as a classic car by State Farm for a full value of $50,000 USD with no depreciation. And as a Classic Car ,my insurance premium was cut in half, yes. My RX8 40th Anniversary Edition is garaged and isn't my daily driver, as I own other cars.

FYI, my 40th Anniversary Edition (bought new in 2008) came with the Mazda body kit with front spoiler, side skirts and rear wing, and has less than 15,000 miles on its second engine. (I got the free under-warranty reman engine from Mazda after 65,000 miles on the original engine).

Some of the mods on mine:
Mazdaspeed Cold Air intake;
Second-gen BHR high performance Ignition coils and wires;
Series Two fuel pump
Performance CAT and midpipe from Rotary Performance of Garland, Texas
Koyo hyper-v-core radiator upgrade, and closed aluminum cooling system upgrade from Pettit Racing with Racing Beat hoses.
Cooling fan low temp control kit
Mazmart Re-medy upgraded water pump, and low temp thermostat
Upgraded starter
BHR reinforced clutch pedal
Rotary Performance low temp oil cooler thermostats.
All recalls done, and a few other things on the mechanical side.

Some other stuff:
Aluminum Fender strakes
Mazda factory RX8 Sirius-XM Radio kit
Mazda RX8 spare tire kit
Continental High Performance Tires

Your 40th Anniversary Edition may be your daily driver and may or may not qualify for Classic Car Insurance, but it is worth a look. Beats having it only worth a 15-year depreciated value.

Cheers and best to all fellow 40th Anniversary Edition owners

Stuff to know:RX8 Club’s recommended maintenance schedule, more comprehensive and proactive than Mazda’s schedule.

30,000 miles:
- Replace Ignition coils
- Replace Plug wires
- Replace Spark plugs
- Clean MAF (mass air flow sensor)
- Clean ESS (e-shaft sensor)
- Reset ESS profile
- Clean power steering connections
- Clean battery terminals and clamps
- Replace transmission fluid
- Replace coolant (Mazda FL-22 is highly recommended)
- Replace air filter
- Replace brake fluid (fluid in the brake lines AND the clutch line)
~$300 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

every 60,000:
...all 30,000, plus...
- Clean all chassis electrical grounding points
- Replace accessory belts
- Clean OMP lines
- Replace rear differential fluid
- Replace thermostat
- Clean / Straighten AC condenser fins
- Clean / Straighten oil cooler fins
- Inspect catalytic converter
- Clean / Inspect intake valving
- Consider / inspect all points in 90,000+ as well, many items fail early
~$130 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

90,000:
...all 30,000, plus any 60,000 not yet done, plus...
- Replace coolant bottle
- Replace radiator hoses
- Replace radiator
- Replace front O2 sensor
- Replace motor mounts
- Inspect clutch pedal assembly for flex / weld breaks
~$900 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

At 100k, anything original in the cooling system and Cat is really suspect and failure prone. It represents the biggest threats to your engine.
Also be sure the car has had all the Mazda RX8 recall work. There is no expiration on recalls and Mazda dealers have to do the work for free. Be sure to find a Mazda dealer where the mechanics still know how to work on an RX8. Those Series One fuel pumps are known to go bad over time. Under heavy loads, and high temps they are known to fail, and could leave you stranded on the side of the road. At 22K you should still be ok, but if you keep the car, know that lies ahead down the road. I swapped in a RX8 Series Two fuel pump which is far superior.

Enjoy
