2008 Rx8 40th Anniversary Edition
Hey guys! After looking around for cars for a while, I decided to buy a Rx8 that was for sale near by me. I was just wondering if it was a good buy and all. That's all. I am the third owner and the previous owners took care of the car through the dealership. Recalls have also been done. Car's all stock.
Here's a link to the seller's car page:

So I guess just let me know what you all think. Thanks in advance!

Great looking car. I've read enough on here to know what a lot of replies will say... don't think about buying it based on looks and price without getting an engine compression test done!

Read though this, and the post immediately after it.
New and Potential Owners: So I need a Compression Test, Right?
Explains why just any mechanic can't do it, and what you need from the dealer when you get it done. If there is a rotary specific shop near you, you can probably get it done there too, but there are only a few of those in the US.

Life After 8K RPM....
Get the compression at the Mazda Dealer..
You should receive something like this;
Rotor 1: 7.5, 7.6, 7.5
Rotor 2: 7.2, 7.3, 7.3
Also, read the new and potential owner thread on top of the page..
All the best

You will probably want to budget for coils, plugs and wires right away also (about 350 for OEM or if you can swing it the BHR is around 500ish, maybe a bit more, but you wont have to worry about changing the coils again, just the plugs after that).

40th anniversary Edition
All great advice from everyone here. If the engine compression checks out, then I also recommend you do the ignition upgrade to BHR. I also own a 2008 40th Anniversary Edition with the upgraded BHR ignition, so i guess I am partial. As far as the car, this special edition model had all the luxury items of the Series 1 Grand Touring models, with a little extra performance suspension upgrades like the Shinka before it and Series 2 after it. A great combo with an interior that is both unique and beautiful. I hope all is well with the car so you can buy it, but take everyone's advice and get that rotary compression test BEFORE you buy. Use your good sense before you are smitten. Best to you !
Cheers
