2010 RX-8 won't start
Tried to start my 2010 RX-8 today and it would turn over but would not start. In a normal engine it sounds like the timing belt/chain is broke and the engine just keeps turning over and over. What could be causing this? And what should I do?

Welcome to the forum. We will need more information before we can help you.
What year is the car?
What kind of transmission?
Is this the original engine?
How many miles?
When was the last time you replaced the ignition system (spark plugs, coils and wires)?
When was the last time you replaced the battery? (These cars run hot, batteries don't like heat)
When was the last time the car ran?
It could be flooded, rotaries flood easier than piston engines.

It has 55,000 miles on it with an automatic transmission. I thought maybe the battery was weak so I hooked up my jump starter to it and it still just went cranked over but would not start. It is my wife's car and it was running fine when she parked it two weeks ago when the weather changed and she started driving our Outlander. I planned to start it every week or so to keep the battery charged. Unfortunately it started doing this. Thanks for any ideas anyone may have. I am not much of a mechanic but at least maybe someone can give me an idea of what may be wrong. I just went out and tried it again and same thing, it turns over but will not start.

It is the original engine, we have not replaced the ignition system, the battery is about three years old (it's a red top). I did not do the de-flooding procedure but we don't push the gas pedal when we start it (as per dealer instructions).

At 55k, there's a good chance that the ignition system needs to be replaced.
It's recommended every 30k, coils, plugs, and wires anyway.
At least the plugs should be pulled to see if they're fouled or carboned over.
If they are, doing the de-flood procedure won't help much.
