I've been lurking for a few months now, only to find out you have to wait a good solid month! I'm wondering if that's why the S2 forums are almost completely inactive.
Check these puppies out, changed it out on my 09 R3 yesterday... 55K miles, surely the original owner never changed the plugs...
BONUS: Plug on the 6MT, looks normal...

Just WHAT IS THAT?
That said, I have decided that I should change my spark plugs yearly. Mine were very dirty and gross when I got them out and they only had been in the engine for a year, and I drive the car pretty hard as well.

That's the transmission drain plug. It's magnetic so it picks up all the ferromagnetic shavings from normal use.
That looks about the same as mine after my recent drain/refill.

Yeah, that's about normal for a drain plug.

Water Foul
You don't need to change them yearly. They work just fine with carbon and soot on the rims. As long as the electrodes are clean, they work just as well as new ones. I track my car, which is the very definition of driving hard and don't need to change them yearly. Don't waste your money. Waste it on frequent oil changes instead. Those actually do some good.
