Air Pump woes - tested solenoids, tested relay, tested pump. Now what?

Hey Guys,

I've had the Secondary Air Pump code since I purchased this 04 RX8 GT M/T.

I tested the air pump - works perfect.

I went a head and tested the relay - works perfect.

I also tested the solenoids on the back of the intake manifold. - All 3 work perfect.

I don't get it. What else can I test? The pump randomly started working a few days ago after I checked the relay and unplugged one of the solenoids and plugged it back in. Now I get the CEL again for the pump. I think it was P2249 for the DTC.

All the wires look to be in order, none crimped or brittle. No vac leaks either.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Zach

replace the solenoid. i was having the same issue. even though the solenoid leak tested fine, the pcm monitors the constant voltage of the solenoid. if it is below a certain threshold too many times over a period the computer determines, then it will throw a code. i literally did this maybe two months ago. found a new oem one on ebay for cheaper than i found anywhere else local retail.
