All the possible useless mods and $10,000

Your nitrous kit is alot simpler than mine as well:p but it's not at all a bad option. I went with more pieces to my nitrous kit. If you decide to go nitrous Travis is a great guy and the kit he has is the same as mine.

As for life engine life with N2O. It comes with how you drive the car and how much you spray. If you maintain your engine well. Then it is a safe alternative to boost. But this is why I went with so much to my kit. The controller being the biggest part. Instead of getting the massive 50-55hp(lol) all at once. I'll be spreading the spray from 2-4-6 secs at my choosing. Reducing the stress on the engine. This also applies to boost. Do it the right way. Don't try and cut corners.

I think you're on the right track with either a quality N2O kit or turbo.

This and other build threads make a good case it'll cost $15k all in, including a properly built Renny.

Yeah the stock Greddy turbo is garbage. Definitely BNR if you want to go that route
Forced induction is a huge money pit on the RX-8 IMO. Thousands spent with 100hp-ish gains? I'll pass.
As mentioned earlier nitrous is a cheaper and easier way to make horsepower with the RENESIS. Can one of the nitrous guys butt in and give some figures?
If you really want to ramp up the power then go with another motor/car. There are a few REW and LSX/Windsor swaps out there making over 400whp.
All in all the RX-8 is a great platform with a lot of potential... it is a good-looking and practical car that can throw down on the track. My philosophy is to keep it stock performance wise and appreciate it for what it is, unless you really want more power and have over $10,000 burning a hole in your pocket.

I had nitrous and have been boosted for the past 40,000 miles. Nitrous is fun but refilling bottles is a PIA and once you drive a boosted RX-8 you can never go back to NA. And the Greddy T618Z is fine, it's the same turbo used on the R34 GTR kit and the Nissan VQ TT kit. The only down side to it on our application is the lack of a water cooled center section which can be addressed. I'm not sure what people expect but it works fine fro the target boost the kit was designed for.
My engine rebuild by Pineapple Racing and Turbo kit with numerous modifications was around $10,000.00. But I spent way more than that after going turbo by upgrading the turbo with a watercooled CHRA, larger billet compressor wheel, larger turbine, powder coated pipes, custom AN lines, etc, etc.
Will $10,00.00 get you a fast RX-8? No, fast is relative but a 280-300WHP RX-8 is damn fun. Although for most, the ROI is poor. But, It's just money, you can't take it with you when you die.

Power is fun...but like most here have said...its not only the engine you need to consider.
Once you increase power, you got to tune it, increase cooling (new radiator), increase exhaust velocity & breath, aero parts to deal with the excess heat in the engine bay, firm up the delivery of the power to the wheel (suspension, struts, brace, subframe mounts, diff bushing), upgrade your ignition system, monitor your engine health via gauges.
If you want more butt torque on the straight, invest in a new Mustang. This car is not built for that purpose. This was built for corners. My 2 cents.

Yep, my RX-8 is done for now I am happy with it. But I have to say, I have always chosen underdog cars but it's nice that I can spend a little over $2,000.00 on my 335i and make 400WHP. **** even suspension mods are cheaper.
