Auto RX-8 because in wheelchair

Hi

I had a manual RX-8 in 2009 and loved every minute i had it but after having it for just 2 months i ended up in a wheelchair so had to sell it.

i would love to get another and was looking at an auto with paddle shift, was going to use it on the road and for the occasional track day.

But i have heard alot of bad things about the auto but obviously its all i can have as i cant use a clutch.

Is it as bad as everyone says it that much slower than the 231 manual?

Does it redline much lower?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, im a bit gutted if it is all true as really wanted another one

Mike

yhea the 04-05 autos have 4 port motors and 4 speed trans making ~192hp

the 06+ autos have the 6 port motor, 6 sp trans making ~212hp

So, 06 and up auto sounds like good to go. My understanding is that the later autos and manuals have the same engine and same power. Will someone verify?

And, where are you?

the 06+ has the same engine as all manuals do (talking about series 1 rx8s). its slighty lower power comes from the lower redline (7500 vs 9k) iirc
