Body shop flooded my rx-8
Hello,
STORY:
My 2004 RX-8 with approximately 60,000 miles was backed into by a co-worker, she took full responsibility and we moved forward with the insurance claim. I had the car taken to a large and local body shop here in Portland, where it still is (11/26/2013).
ISSUE:
The folks down at the body shop drove my 8 from point A to point B several times while replacing miscellaneous cosmetic parts. Starting and stoping the engine often enough to cause... You guessed it, engine flooding.
THEIR FIX:
So far from the report I have gotten they have replaced the spark plugs and done a diagnostic test to help them sleep at night. They do say there is a warranty after I leave the shop, but I want things done right the first time from now on the car so that I do not need to use that warranty.
CONCERN:
I am asking for some advice plain and simple as to what is the realistic problems that can happen with my car, what other parts/seals should be replaced to ensure that no future problems or issues occur, and what actions need to be taken after a mistake such as this one has occurred. The problem was caught quickly they say, that doesn't make a difference in my mind, but I am biased and pissed.
I work on my cars myself using forums, but I am still too new to the rotary scene to be comfortable with this one.
Legal advice etc. would be greatly appreciated. Money is tight and time is tighter with two jobs, especially with one being graveyard.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Steve

Have you read the new owner's thread?
Flooding happens for a reason. Something on your car has failed in order for that to occur. Plugs, coils AND wires fail regularly on RX-8s, and they lead to cascading failures of other major and expensive parts.

In addition to what RIWWP mentioned, there are some simple deflooding procedures on here you should follow. Follow them. I highly recommend hooking a battery charger to your battery or jumper cables to another car. It is cold out and you could easily drain the battery.
Long term fix is to replace the OE coils with something better. Since switching to BHR ignition solution I have not had any issues with flooding.
I'm in Beaverton so not that far from you. Which bodyshop flooded your car?

Thanks for getting back to me,
It was Leif's Auto right off 185th and T.V. Hwy.
Yeah like I said I don't have the car right now and did not flood it so I'm hoping to bring some information to Leif's to make sure those things are done.
