Bogging issue...

Okay can someone point me to a good bogging forum page or answer my question. This guy I bought this/traded my crashed up(by previous owner) rx8+cash for this r8 looks mint and anything mechanical I can deal with but frame issues I can't. It has a stupid aftermarket air intake like the stupid pod ones would really like to have the stock back but to get a stoke it's pricey as F. I know it could be the maf because of aftermarket intake and the maf doesn't like aftermarket crap. Compression issue but he has paper work that engine was rebuilt 20,000 km ago Apex seals. Just right now it bigger down to 400 rpm and battery light came on then went back up after i put the clutch in. The guy put a s2 transmission in it gears seem fucked pretty sure needs a new clutch or gear box is screwed. Anybody had issue of bogging down then battery light pops up for a short second? Is that an ignition coil issues...sparkplug, ignition wires or the battery is crapping out or the alternator. Battery was replaced about a month ago so shouldn't be the issue.

You need to troubleshoot. It could be due to the intake, if the MAF screens are missing or dislodged. It could be many things.

The MAF itself does not have screens. The factory intake uses two screens. I have noc lue what intake you have or how many screens it has or doesn't have.

The guy bought one of those fing EBay Injen SP6080P Cold Air Intake - SP Series Intake System MAZDA RX-8. I want the stock back but to get everything it going to cost me 800-1000 and that's ridiculous. Unless somebody knows a place to grab one for cheap.

Have you tried any salvage yards?
They have locator networks, maybe they can find it for you.

It may also be worth noting that a rebuild from 20,000km ago doesnt necessiarly mean you dont also have engine issues. depending on who rebuilt the engine, what was reused during the rebuild (ie. if the rotor housings were bad but they didnt want to double to price of the build so they said leave them alone and put new apex in there and it will be good enough for me until i sell it) Obviously you can troubleshoot what you can before jumping to engine, but a compression test may be smart after you are done troubleshooting the rest of your stuff. My first step would be that intake. if you're seriously getting quotes of 800+ bucks for stock, just get an AEM cold air intake for 350-400 and enjoy a better than or equilevant to stock setup. This is of course provided you can verify that your issue is the intake and you plan on replacing it.

I'm from Edmonton. Bought an rx8 from a driffter lol worst idea ever wanted one since I was a kid. So I jumped on it not really looking through it. More of looked at cosmetics and engine. Engine had good compression even started when hot. But he made it look good but not good frame. Everything lined up toon it to get inspected just because. He welded steering column on to linkage and the frame was bashed on with a sledgehammer supposedly curbed and all so I traded it to another guy who going to use it for racing he knows everything wrong with it traded for this. Looks nicer frames good engine and aftermarket intake causing me issues. Can't find spark plugs or ignition coils for less then 700 dealers rip you off. Anybody know a decent place in Edmonton for spark plugs and ignition wires i have coils.
