OH Bought A 2010 Rx8 R3

Hello All,

Just bought a 2010 Rx8 R3 with 38k on her.
I am the second owner. She's very clean.
I've been into rotaries for 18 years. I build them,
modify them. I've owned both 2nd gen Rx7 turbo and NA.
And owned a white 94' Rx7. My wife and I just had a little girl
last December. So I sold the other two Rx7's this year and decided
to go with an Rx8 as it makes sense for me right now. I understand they
made many changes from model year 08' to 09+ with the Rx8 Including
the two oil metering pumps and going to 3 oil nozzles per rotor. Also understand
that the stock coils go bad right about the mileage mine is at. So probably will
be getting BHR coils soon. I've been reading on this forum for the past week.
Absorbing tons of information on the Rx8. If anyone here goes to the April
Deals Gap Rotor Rally. I will be there in my 8 Next year. I had a mint red
second gen turbo II there with really low miles in 2012.

Anyways just wanted to say Hi!
I'm loving my Rx8!

~Luke

Nice R3, and welcome to the club. I went to the DGRR in 2012 with my R3 and had an awesome
time cruising the mountain roads but sadly missed this years rally, but there's always next year

Thanks Drazil! That blue is really memorizing! I can just sit there and
stare at her for hours! They nailed it with that blue!

Thank You Sato Tatsuya-san!!! I did some research and found I really liked
the R3 model. Pretty rare also. Only a couple hundred in 2009 and 2010. And I
think less then that in 2011. I was surprised I found one so clean! I had to pay
a little extra for her. But I am happy with my purchase!

Thanks G_ man! I had a super clean 87' red TII there at DGRR 12'
My wife is Japanese. And I had some magazines and some little models on the
Dash at the car show.
We had a little girl last December. So we missed this years DGRR also.
I was a little sad because it was DGRR X. But no biggie. We will be at
next years for sure! Hopefully we'll see you there!

Thanks NickRugenus. I will! I've been doing a ton of searching on here. Lots
of good info. Trying to figure out if I can use my usual oil and premix.
Or if I can not use the stock OMP's and just premix. There's a lot of debate on
here about it. Thinking it would be ok. But for right now I'm bone stock
with cats. So might either go with Royal Purple going by how well it's done
being used in the rotary. Or just stick with dino and maybe throw in a 1/2 ounce
of premix. Probably be what I do for now.

I just ordered my BHR Coils, MSD or Moroso spark plug wires, and plugs.
Though going by the paper work. Looks like the plugs were done about 10k
miles ago. But what the hell huh. Isn't going to hurt to put new ones in.
I bought the car at 38k. And I'm about to turn 40k miles. She run's fine.
But I can hear a little stutter when idling. And after reading about the stock
coils on here. I'm not going to chance it. Just going to change them out.

Cool man! You seem to know what your doing. Good to see you are finding what you are looking for! Changing the plugs seem like a good idea.. Like you said it wont hurt.

Thanks NickRugenus! Should have the coils, plugs, and wires here on Monday!
Probably go ahead and change oil too. Looks like I need to keep with the stock
oil filter for the higher oil pressure bypass. Still looking into oil. I figure it out here
soon though!

I'll post up after my install!

Put the new coils, wires, and plugs in yesterday. You can feel her run a little smoother.
