I really would like to thank all the past responses to my questions. Yet I have another. I am noticing every once and a while when I start my rx8 I get some smoke coming out the exhaust. Usually the first start of the day and not always. Today it's a bit chilly here in south Florida, high 40's low 50's and there was a considerable amount of smoke coming from the exhaust. It's seems to have burnt off in the first 1/2 mile of driving. I hate to run to a mazda dealer and have them blow smoke up my a$s, no pun intended. A friend of mine told me that because of the rotary engine that every once in a while that may happen due to the nature of the engine. Nothing to be alarmed about. Yet I am really concerned. Any feedback? Thank you.
Ps.....the smoke is whiteish/blue.

The rotary is designed to inject oil as a lubricating function.
You should have to add about a 1/2 qt. every other tank or so.
If you are catless the smoke will be more noticeable.
I suggest you do some searches on it to see if you have a real problem.
Start with the new owner stickies if you haven't read them yet.

^ It depends on how thick it is. If it's just wispy or fast fading out of the tailpipes, then yes, it's condensation. However I dealt with a problem on my 8 where it was "white smoke in the morning", and it was enough to fill a 4-way intersection thick enough that you couldn't see across the road. That was decidedly NOT condensation.
So...how thick is it?

Well, I think it should be clear to everyone that it is NOT normal to cloud a complete intersection ![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
From the description it didn't sound like the OP has anything even close to that.
Besides, I'd think if someone has that much smoke then it wouldn't go away in 1/2 mile and wouldn't be intermittent either.

Yes. Oil level is fine. I check it every week. Just got the car 4 months ago with 62,500 miles on it so I get somewhat paranoid when something like this happens. The guy who I bought it from changed the oil about two weeks before I bought it. Then I changed the oil after I had it for three weeks just to start off right. That was three months ago to the day which I put 1900 miles on it in that time. Funny thing is I checked the oil level every week and I thought I would need to add some during that time but I didnt. Anyway it's been three months and I am bringing it in for a change today. 5w 30 regular oil.
