Buying a Rx8
Hey guys my names steve, new to this forum, but im on a few others.
im located in NEPA andI want to buy a rx8. i went and test drove a 2006 gt and loved it. the car was starting to rust so i didnt buy it. My brothers and i do most of our own work but nothing really with rotaries. i did own a rx7 vert for a little over a year before i sold it.
i came across a 2004 rx8 6 speed with 109,000 miles in bensalem pa. i think its just a base model, but it does have a 6 speed? the owner says it was rebuilt and ported but doesnt have any paper work to prove it. i read the rx8 doesnt gain much porting unless BDC did the motor work.
From briefly talking with the owner is sounds like he doesnt know what he bought and im curious if you think its worth taking a look at or just look the other way
heres the link
Mazda RX8
any and all input is appreciated!

Is Nifty
Seems cheap for having a fresh engine doesn't it? With no paperwork, perhaps you could tell if there was a rebuild or new engine by how clean the engine block is. I'd think 109,000 miles vs 2000 miles would be noticeable unless the owner detailed the engine bay really well. Also, a compression test like RIWWP suggested.
