VA A/C Drive Belt Snapped Last Night

Hey all, I would post this in the proper place if I could but this is the only forum I am allowed to post in right now.

Last night my car started smoking REAL bad when I was pulling in my driveway, popped the hood and saw the AC belt had snapped, I think the smoke was just from burning rubber.

Anyways I just bought this RX about a week ago, it's got 60,000 miles on it.

Any suggestions of where I can go to get a belt locally? Is that something the dealership or a mazda repair shop will have in stock? (I'm in NorthernVA)

I normally order all my parts from rockauto but I need to get this belt on today.

Thanks, I look forward to posting here a lot in the future!

Yeap anywhere that sells gates belts. It wouldn't smoke if it just snapped. The ac compressor probably locked up. Does the belt look burnt/melted?

Okay here are some pics, you can see melted residue on the compressor and near it

Also, can I leave that AC drive belt off and drive the car in the meantime? It should be fine right?

looks like something seized up. over the years my alternator pully did and shredded the belt then a year or two ago the ac clutch did the same thing

yes you can leave it off
