Car will not start
I have just bought a 2008 RX8 and it has been running a dream till last friday when it would now start.
So far i have checked all fuses. The immobiliser is showing no warnings.
The engine turns over but there is no hint of starting. The fuel pump is running.
My mechanic has plugged in his computer and there are no fault codes.
I have not done a compression test yet, but the engine was running fine earlier in the week and would hot and cold start without an issue.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thank you
Richard

Odds are it's flooded.
The usual suspects are ignition coils or plugs misfiring, or weak charging system.
I would buy a battery about every 3 years.
Check that your terminals are clean and tight.

If you can find a date on the battery or if it looks old, go ahead and buy a new battery if you can.

Did you start it up and shut it down immediately on the last drive before it stopped starting? Is it cold where you are and do the ignition coils, wires and spark plugs have more than 25k miles on them? Those things will contribute to flooding, though a healthy car should not flood.
Given that you bought it without a compression test, we can't assume anything about its health.
Look up the deflood procedure using the gas pedal to turn off fuel delivery. It takes a long time and you'll need to keep your battery charged, but it should work. Optionally you can remove the spark plugs and dry them out. See about refreshing ignition and evaluating compression after it's running.

I may have started and stopped it quickly a few days before as i was sorting out the radio in teh car and ran it up to check it.still worked.
It has been very wet and a little chilly.....
I have no idea how old the ignition wires and plugs are.
Ill see if i can find the de-flood procedure. and compression test next week when i have time. It is due a rebuild i know....

Start near the end, post 465.
This is a common occurrence.
If you own an RX8, sooner or later you'll go through it.
