cat cleaning

anyone ever heard or putting lacquer thinner in your gas tank to clean you cats? If so have you tried it and did it work?

The theory behind it is that it increases the EGTs. In piston cars, this probably increases them to the temp range that rotaries are already at. Since we already have an EGT problem, I would not recommend doing this.


Besides, how exactly do normal owners measure how well their cat has, or has not, been cleaned by doing this? Any "oh, feels better" doesn't qualify, since it could be based on something else, or even just entirely in their heads.

The cat doesn't get "dirty" for us. A clogged cat isn't clogged by carbon so much as it's clogged with itself. One element breaks down and powders, packing into another element. And it does this because our cars run hot and rich. Both are enemies of cat lifespans.
