Cat gone at 67,000

Hi guys,

I bought a rx8 by chance as the owner thought the engine and exhaust were gone... I'd assume it was the foam on the oil looool and blue smoke. It only has 67000 and it's the cat. I'm based in the uk and get mixed results on them replacing it. It's an mot failure so can't drive it to the dealer. Sorry but I only got yesterday and there's a lot of info to take in but already enjoying the journey 😆👍🏻

Welcome! Not sure what the question is though.

Foam in the oil is normal. Blue smoke is not.
A dead cat is often caused by dead coils, and often leads to a dead engine.
You should have the engine compression tested before you invest in a cat, at Mazda or at a rotary specialist with the right tools. If it passes, have the cat replaced with an OEM unit if you can, a high quality (read: HJS) unit if you can't. If it fails, you'll have some decisions to make about how much you want to invest in this car.
