im assuming all the unburnt fuel has obliterated the honey comb on my 02. Which I’m hoping is the cause of my nuetral idle drop to 500 rpm to surge up to about 1500 2000 rpm
If you're catless the post cat o2 will obviously throw a code. The o2 sensors doesn't have a honeycomb? Anyway ifle surging wouldn't be caused by that, look for vacuum leaks, check if your fuel trims are too high and if the ignition coils are all firing.
Yes sir. Innova isn’t pulling any live data. Which is kinda new. Ever since purchase I’ve had to hold male and female ends at an angle to read any data. It did pull obd mode test which as is shows. Also one thing I’d like to ask is this. Last week I replaced air filter. Stock box. Upon disconnecting vacuum hose from elbow vacuum was released. Car had been sitting to cool off a few hours. One thing to note is i removed battery after turning off engine for replacement but didn’t install it till next day. Idk if it needs power to release vacuum. Clearly idk.
The more I research the more it feels like ignition. When I bought the hks hi power the seller of exhuast looked under hood and was suprised and said it was Bhr. But I’ll be checking it out asap as my daily round trip is 120miles 😬. Yes I know. And I live in phx
Which vacuum hose exactly? I don't think anything should be holding vacuum, especially nothing connected directly to the intake.. since the intake is open to atmosphere.
This OBD test stuff might be a red herring, do you have any codes at the moment besides the P0420 you probably have for the missing cat?
If you did disconnect the battery, you need to let the car learn to idle again. Just start it and let it warm up. It will eventually learn without this, but might act weird for the first couple of drive cycles.
Was there oil on your air filter or in the intake tract by chance?
no codes, no. I want to believe it’s relearning but I mean it’s been driven at least 300 miles since then.
Line holding vacuum was vfad.
I’ll try again tomorrow for live data.
Oh yeah VFAD has a check valve so that's normal.
The surging can be a few things:
- baro sensor
- oil on the MAF
- vacuum leak
- clutch neutral switch on the pedal. If its signal is intermittent it can cause this
- miswired coils or injectors
