Check Engine light after new clutch (p0442) small leak

Hey Guys,

I just replaced the clutch on my 2004 Rx8 and now it has a CEL P0442 Evaporative emission system leak detected (small leak). The first time I started the car there was lot of exaust gases coming from somewhere (well i believe it was exhaust gases). Will it throw a CEL if they exhaust has a small leak or did i accidently undo a hose somewhere while changing the clutch??

Where do i start looking?? Just to be clear the car has no CEL before the clutch was done.

Thanks

This one is fairly common and the first place you should check is the gas cap. If you are sure it is nice and tight (at least 3 clicks) then it could very well need a replacement.

Most certainly may not be, but it is always wise to start with the basics.
