Clutch Issues

Problem: Clutch won't disengage. Here's what happened... all was working fine as always when i pulled up to a light. I shifted to neutral fine, then when the light turned i shifted to 1st and let the clutch out at which point it just died. I tried to start it up and got in return a strong burning smell and a cloud of smoke. Then she started and i drove it to my friends a few blocks away to get towed. 1 block from his house i could no longer shift and called a tow truck. My clutch pedal feels like this: little pressure alllll the way down until the last couple inches then it gets stiff again. My thought is that there's air in the line and the clutch needs to be bled along with getting some new cylinders. I didnt feel the clutch slip on the way back. Whats throwing me off though is i havent appeared to have lost any fluid and i dont see gunk by the slave cylinder or anywhere else. What do you guys think? Thanks!

your Master Cylinder has failed. Not sure if you need to replace the Slave Cylinder as well? If you have the extra money, go for the Slave. Eventually, you will have to replace the Clutch as well.

EDIT: have you replaced your Clutch pedal yet? Once you save up enough, ask them to replace it as well along with the Clutch. it's covered under warranty.

I haven't noticed any cracks or flexing in the pedal. After taking a closer look it does appear that something is wrong down below and not with the hydraulics. If I adjust the push rod all the way out it allows me to shift and then pushes the slave cylinder right out of the housing shortly after. I'll be ordering a clutch kit from BHR soon enough. What do you think might have failed?

Was going to say to order the BHR pedal instead of using the stock pedal under warranted, but, even though you don't see visible fluid or if there was fluid, and it's no longer leaking, doesn't mean you're exempt from failures.

If you do the clutch kit then maybe the change the Slave? I don't know.

Broke? What happened? Did the rod push out of the body?

There really isn't anything that can break...except the bleed screw????

Yah the fluid pushed it right out of the slave cylinder body

That isn't broken...just need to re-insert carefully into the seal

It sounds to me like you have an issue with your clutch fork or throw out bearing or pressure plate assembly that is allowing it to move further than it should...and then the slave actuator rod will overextend and fall out of the body

The first one blew out completely and wouldn't hold a seal. This one is still OK. It came half way out but is still in good shape and holds a seal. That's what I was thinking was pp or t/o bearing. It's all good tho, it was about time to be replaced.
