Clutch pedal sticking in the beginning

This morning I went to start my car, and when I pressed the clutch pedal I heard a sound, like something snapped. Then when I released the clutch pedal, it wouldn't come back up all the way. I pulled it up with my foot, but now every time I press it, it does the same (without the snapping sound). The first half an inch kind of works like a light switch now. With just a slight nudge it pops back up. Otherwise the clutch seems to work fine. It is possible that the pedal assembly has cracked. Before I start taking stuff apart and ordering new parts I would like to know what someone else thinks could be the problem. Here is a video of the clutch pedal in its glorious action:

Take your phone and take a close up shot at the firewall. Better yet, practice your car yoga and get your head up there to look at the bracket where the pedal mounts to the firewall. Look for split metal/snapped welds.

Very common problem, you can buy a new one or have it welded.
I replaced mine with a reinforced BHR one, but they're sold out ATM.

Thanks for the replies guys! I managed to do some car yoga, I was upside down, my legs were thorough the sun roof, it was quite the exercise but now I feel like a new man! Anyway, it does look cracked as hell. Here is the picture I managed to take:

I got an OEM pedal from my local dealership for about $80 CAD in 2 days. It took 130,000 km to wear the original out and the wait time was much shorter for the OEM unit. Get the broken one welded for a spare unless you are fortunate to have welding talent, then ignore my entire response.

I took it to a local mechanic to get it welded. Works great now!

The biting point of the clutch was a bit higher now, so I also adjusted the push rod of the pedal to be a little shorter. Think it is perfect now.
