Clutch won't disengage

2005 Mazda rx8 6speed
So the other day I was driving and I shifted from 1st to 2nd and my clutch just stuck to the ground. My clutch feels very soft and when I have to car on it won't go into any gear, it doesn't grind when I try to put it in gear it just lurches forward about an inch but doesn't got in gear. I'm able to start my car and when it's off it will go into every gear just fine. I replaced the master and slave cylinder and bled the lines through the slave. While I was replacing the slave cylinder I noticed that fork the slave pushes has some side to side play, I don't know if that's normal or not. When it first happened I checked my brake fluid level and it was full, also haven't seen any leaks. The pedal bracket seems fine too, I took it of for never looked it over and didn't see anything that would indicate it was broke, although my clutch does have more left/right play then my brake and gas pedals just not by much. After putting the pedal back in my car won't start at all now so I'm completely lost and was wondering if anyone has any idea of what's going on before I take it to a shop. I appreciate any responses

It probably won't start because you have top reset the plunger on the clutch interlock switch. As for it staying to the ground, well it's not bled properly, or it's leaking, or something was not installed correctly and that seem like the obvious situation.

I pulled out the plunger and it started right up so thank you! I adjust the clutch so that the rod in the back was as far out as it could go and it will go in gear now but when I try to drive it my car will move but I also hear my clutch spinning and smell it burning.. Any ideas?😕

A $115.00 clutch should last you about a year.

I was initially going to buy an apex clutch for $115 and read some reviews and decided to spend the extra money on an Exedy which was $400, I don't have the money to get a better one than the Exedy..

Well hopefully you got a later batch Stage 1. I would hate to see you have to pull the trans again. There is no need for the stage 1 anyway. I am turbocharged and still run the OEM Exedy.

I have had both, I actually got pissed enough at the Stage 1 I pulled the trans and took it back out.

Might want to check the Clutch Pedal Bracket, known issue, SP Recall, etc.
