Coils I am thinking right

So the rex is sick!

The car had starting issues hot or cold but worse when hot this became progressively worse and now the car will not idle unless I keep the revs up manually. She still revs to the moon but has no power at all anymore this all just happened in the space of 5 miles went like a steam train then died at a junction. Took a long time to start after it cooled down.

Right I saw a clip on youtube where a guy pulled the spark plug leads one at a time to test the coils.

Basically he pulled the leads one at a time and held the lead close to the coil to check the spark to see if there was a spark that jamp from the lead to the coil whilst the engine was running. btw the leads need to be held with insulated plires he had special ones I use my normal ones. A bit scary!

I tried this I started at the furthest away coil from the front a spark was present and no dip in engine tone then I replaced that lead and pulled the next ect until all 4 coils had been checked.

the coil closest to the front had the best spark and when I pulled that one the engine died.

The second coil in had the worst spark and the other two where ok but not as strong a spark as the first one.
