cold air/reflash
#2
If you get an K&N Typhoon, you will need more than a reflash. You will also need a different air measuring method since the K&N Typhoon causes our MAF all sorts of problems, which will in turn cause the engine problems. You will also need your stock intake to put back on once you get tired of dealing with those.
No catback will require any different of a tune, none of them make a difference in power or AFRs to need a tune. Just a noise change, that's it.

The K&N Typhoon is more similar to the RB than a true cold air setup, only does it even more badly since it can't keep a stable airflow across the MAF.
If you want a true cold air intake, AEM is the only option.
It's still only a couple HP gain. The stock intake is VERY VERY good. That's why so many are performance losses. Hard to beat.

I never had one of those, stock was always just fine for me. Perhaps someone else could answer the question about the filter.
And no, you don't need to get tuned for installing it, but you can benefit a bit more from it if you do.

I installed an AEM cold air intake on my 8 and it only took an hour or so to install......
The bumper does have to be removed to clean the filter, (well I take it off anyways) Im sure you could remove the filter without removing the bumper by jacking it up and getting under it but that would probably be a big PITA as its pretty tight in there.....
Once you have removed the bumper once it becomes a simple task, It really only takes me about 15 or 20 minutes to remove the bumper by myself, so I remove the bumper to clean the filter as well clean and inspect other parts in behind......
Some have had issues with water ingestion, so if you decide to go AEM avoid auto car washs and be cautious of big puddles and pooled water as it can be sucked in by the CAI. Winter just ended here in Ontario and we had weeks of -20 and below weather and I never had any problems....
Cheers,
