Here are the normalized numbers:
Rotor 1:
7.6
7.6
7.1
Rotor 2:
7.49
7.71
7.27
Overall mediocre results. I would expect to see 8's and 9's for that low mileage.

"I hope" is a terrible way to begin a rotary ownership.
Sorry, but it's true. Rotaries don't last long on hope, and tend to go for the nuts when hope is what it's running on.

a "rebuilt" is very subjective.
- disassembled, clean all parts, re-assemble it with new o-rings and gaskets.
- disassembled, clean all parts, new rotor housing, re-assemble with new o-rings and gaskets.
- blah blah, new apex seal only, re-assemble blah blah blah
all of the above can be considered as a "rebuilt", so it really depends on what was "replaced" during the "rebuilt", you will get a very different engine.
a "8" compression engine is really new, I rarely see a "9+" rx8 engine even when it's new or after the "break in", most will just stay around high 8's and will stay that way until things starts wearing out.
your engine is not bad, u should premix if you want it to last.

Thanks for the advice. I biught it, it's mine, and I'll do whatever I can to keep it running well.
By rebuilt, I meant it was a factory install by mazda 2 years ago. They claim it was new, but I thought I read that they were all reman at that point (still not clear on that).
I love the car. I did my research and knew what I was getting into. I thought those were decent numbers per the faq?

Those numbers are sad but you own it now. Where do you live Deacon? According to the Renesis Compression Android app those numbers are out of spec. The one on Foxed is specifically for the RX-7 I thought and not usable due to the different compression ratio.

OK, I reran those numbers and accounted for my altitude:
7.88 7.88 7.43
7.75 7.95 7.52
Now in the FAQ, that would seem to fall in this range:
- 7.5-7.9: This is a solid engine. Most engines from Mazda seem to be in this range after the break-in period. Stay on top of the other failure points possible, and you should get at least 60-80k more out of this engine, if not more.
