So, what is the apparent problem in using TCW3?, as I never heard this before. I understand that for lubricating the Apex Seals - (as this is what the Metering Pump is obviously used for), you DO NOT use any kind of synthetic oil, and I make sure that the TCW3 I buy is not synthetic, as I see that this TCW3 is also now available in part or full synthetic. I will be very keen to hear the reasoning behind this, and what I should use instead? My 2004 Car has done nearly 100,000 miles already, and is still on the original everything, except Spark Plugs, Tyres, Brake Pads, and Battery.
Regarding my intention to equip the car with these new General Motors D585 Ignition Coils, can anyone enlighten me as to the information regarding the Stock Dwell Angles in the Stock RX8 ECU?
Thanks, ad Kindest Regards

You should not run straight GM D585 coils on an RX8. You need to get BHR coils which have the right mods on GM coils to make them work well with the unique rotary engine ignition requirements of the RX8 without changing the dwell. . https://black-halo-racing.myshopify....nition-upgrade

The BHR RX8 coils are virtually lifetime coils lasting many times the life of other RX8 coils, and are a performance upgrade adding a bit of hp. They are the #1 most purchased RX8 upgrade product.

FROM BHR: " This coil improves upon and now replaces the previous Black Halo Racing Ignition System. Here is how;

1) No more external brackets are needed.

2) No more conversion wiring harness.

3) No more special D-585 style spark plug wires are needed.

4) Improved output performance versus previous offerings.

5) Will not illuminate "Coil Communication CELs" in JDM applications.

6) No need to modify the S2 bracket as needed with other coils and kits.

The New Black Halo Racing Ignition Coil (patent applied for) is a direct-replacement performance coil which properly operates on all versions of the Mazda RX-8 and in all regions of the world (USDM, EUDM, JDM) without any "Check Engine" lights and without modifications to either the S1 nor S2 coil mounting bracket. It contains all the same performance features, and we have been able to improve some fitment/operational features, of the coil previously used in our Black Halo Racing Ignition System but without the hassle and added expense of needing a bracket system, a conversion harness, or non-OEM type spark plug wires.

Black Halo Racing was able to improve upon the D-585's performance when used with the Mazda RX-8 by utilizing the proper IGBT module which, in turn, mates perfectly with the RX-8's Powertrain Control Module and with the PCM's coil driver software. This results in a quicker charging coil which perfectly tracks the commanded ignition timing signal and does not illuminate any "check engine" lights when used on JDM-equipped RX-8s.

Additional dwell time or other "tuning" is not needed as this coil provides improved output and durability when compared to the factory coil. If the end-user wishes to add dwell time, this coil is prepared to accept up to 5.0 ms of total dwell time.

An often overlooked measure of ignition coil operation is "total allowable duty cycle" (the same concept as with fuel injectors) and while other offerings can be limited to a 40% duty cycle, the design of this coil has proven itself over the last ten years to not only handle duty cycles as high as 80%, and RPMs as high as 9K+, but it will also do so for far longer than other coils (as has been demonstrated for 11+ years with our previous ignition system offering).

Warranty: Five years

-Original purchaser must retain sales receipt or be able to provide the invoice number and date of purchase for warranty to remain valid.

Price includes shipping to all 50 states. International shipping please contact BlackHaloRacing@Yahoo.com for shipping quotes. "

Cheers

Hello
I was wondering, and thought I would ask those of you in this forum:
To anyone's knowledge, is there any known issue with leaky Electrolytic Capacitors in the RX8 ECU? The reason I ask this, is that I am a Component Level Electronics Serviceperson by trade, and am aware that
over time these components can get leaky, or lose capacitance. I see this all the time in my interest/hobby, which is the Repair and Maintenance of Vintage Audio and it's devices.
If this is the case, I have all the Equipment, the Anti-static Facilities, and the Knowledge to be able to replace all the Electrolytic Capacitors in these ECUs, at very realistic rates.
I have my own 2004 RX8 which is nearly 19 years old now, and is still running very well.

Hello
No, not really trying to sell a service, but thanks for the heads up anyway. I was recently involved with a Toyota Lexus SC400 ECU which required extensive (all of them) recapping, so was wondering if anyone had seen this problem in the RX8s.
Thanks, and Kindest Regards

showing the whole thing being down for me

well everybody used it but how many people ever donated a few bucks to keep it going?

then again, never received any reply or acknowledgment when I sent a donation, but I appreciated the site regardless

all the links were downloadable too if anyone had the foresight to do so

foxed.ca should be working again now

the site owner said he was out of town when the SSL certificate expired, which caused the problem.
