Converter heat shield

New member here, obviously lol, with a question. I have an 07 with a 6sp, and my converter heat shield fell "off". Off as in hanging down by the O2 sensor cord but otherwise detached. Will the removal of said heat shield destroy the transmission, or will it be acceptable? I live in the USA in the Midwest, and as such, have to regularly visit the wash during the winter to keep salt from building up on the underbody. But I worry come summer the higher temps + cat heat will fry the Trans, if not the wash/salt cycle of the winter rusting the cat through
