Coolant leak
Hello everyone, new owner here 2004 series one loving it.
Recently noticed small puddle under my car the last few days, tried to track down the leak and it seems like it’s leaking from the gasket that connects what I circled in the pic to the block. Not sure what this is? Help please!

That item you've circled is the oil metering pump (OMP). If the coolant is dripping from that, you've got some serious problems because that doesn't interact with the cooling system.
More likely, the coolant leak is above it and it's dripping down onto it.
The assembly above it is the thermostat housing. It houses (wait for it...) the thermostat as well as the coolant temperature sensor. The leak could be coming from any of the hoses that connect there, the gasket from the thermostat housing, the thermostat cap, the coolant temp sensor, or the water pump (just around the corner in that photo).
If I were you, I'd hose down that section of the motor to rinse the coolant off and then add some UV dye to the coolant bottle. Drive it around for a while until you see another coolant drop and then shine a UV light on it. Look for the highest location where you see the dye. That's the starting point for your troubleshooting.
You don't have to buy these exact ones, they're just what showed up on a quick google search.
